Can't seem to create a direct link with an IPad - just go to http://classics.honestjohn.co.uk and select 'Top 10: £1000 coupes'.

Think we've seen a similar variation on his site before though. Pleased to see the Coupe next to the VW Corrado, also a superb car, but should the Vauxhall Tigra be included? Sorry for offending Tigra owners...

Not sure I could get too excited about any but two of the entries! No need to guess which they are smile

The MX-3 is interesting in a baby techy sort-of way, but they were dull inside.

I think I'd extend my list of interest past the obvious two Italians, to include the Corrado and 406

I recall driving a Rover 200 coupe 2 litre turbo once - I think they used to call it the Bob Cat!

Very quick in a straight line but don't try to drive it around a corner too quick!!!!!!!!

Bob cat front wishbones felt like they were made of plastic, bugger used the flex and do all kinds of horrid things in the corners!

I thought it was mainly the torque steer that was the issue?

How these were ever tuned to big Bhp and driven is beyond me!

220 Turbo Tom -Cat Rover, I had one, Loved it with the Targa Roof panels, This was the first car I ever owned that would do 140mph! The Turbo engine was lovely, The car kept spitting drive shafts out however, Also the brakes were the worst I have ever experienced,

I had 3 tomcats.
A 1.6 Honda,1.6 k series and 2 litre na t series.
Great car, funky styling but strange handling. Able to get oversteer in the dry in mine pushing and mass amounts of under steer in the wet. All predictable. Loved the targa setup.
Should be in that list. Coupe,Alfa, calibra and tomcat should be topping the list.

I had a lovely Tahiti Blue 220 Turbo Tomcat back in the late 90's - it had a full Recaro leather interior. It was a 150 mph car out the box, but the handling never gave me much confidence. It was very reliable though. cool
