Hi All,

One for the ex Coupe owners that have moved on to rwd, I have entered this drift day MSVT would be great to have some company. Having watched a loads of cars going round the course last Friday it particularly appeals as the surface is a polished concrete that is kept wet, reducing tyre wear and strain on the suspension and diff and keeping speeds low. Youtube

Cheers, Dave smile

Definitely interested in this. Only thing is it says it's for those with experience? Does that translate to 'if you know what to do that's ok, even if you haven't done it a lot' rather than 'I don't have a clue how to slide a car'? If it's the former then I'll be ok? laugh

That's how I read it. They just don't want someone clueless who spins at every corner slowing the day down. Watching some of the videos on youtube there are plenty of people clearly learning and spinning occasionally. I'm booking some instruction to give the hooning skills a bit more polish, happy to try to pass some of that on.

Dave,

Thanks for your voicemail this afternoon. Looks like this would be great fun - I'm kind of in the same place as Jonny, except that my sideways skills generally consist of 'oh pants.... I've caught it', rather than nice controlled slides...

I would not like to be the one holding everyone up and making a tit out of myself. crazy

I have been planning to book up some days with drift limits though, and would really like to have a go.

Hope the Z4 is going well - my wife is after one, but I think it would have to be the straight 3.0, and I've yet to drive one and see if I'd like to have it as a toy too. smile

I'm very interested in this also. I wonder how strict they are in enforcing "holding everyone up " rule ?

I am certainly no expert by a long way but I'm willing to learn. To learn I need the practice smile

Enjoying Coop ownership, second time round . Also enjoying RWD action in a thundering V8 E90 M3.

I think you'd both be fine, whilst the course does have things to hit if you go mad the polished surface and twisty nature of the track will keep the speeds low. Like at Curborough if any of us spun 5 times a lap every single lap then we'd probably become a bit miffed, but the odd spin here and there when your learning and improving is not going to upset anyone.
They appear to set cars off at intervals, so if you have a spin then just drive normally for a bit to get some space and then resume trying to drift.
@Suba, I'm really enjoying the Z4, but have never driven any of the non Ms so don't know how they compare. Owners on the forum seem to rate the 3.0 highly. You're welcome to take mine for a drive. smile

Then I'll want the M version. crazy Wont say no to a drive though.

currently a toss up between an ultra low mileage RX8 R3, or the 3.0 Z4. RX8 has back seats and LSD, which is a real bonus, and neither car will be doing lots of miles, so fuel economy not really a bother either - think it's going to come down to which the wife thinks looks nicer!
