It's only the start of the process but Eve has had her stem cells today. All went well. The next few weeks are critical.

Hope that Eve has an easy time with the treatment, and a positive outcome in the following weeks.

Thanks again, folks. Apart from a trip to the CT scanner at 5.15am today, all is going pretty well. Still very early days.

Quick update. Day +11 and she's not suffering too badly from the after effects of the chemo. She's had a couple of temp spikes but they are totally expected. All-in-all she's doing incredibly well. Just hope the stem cells are busy doing their stuff. Still a week or so before we'll get any indication. It's a cliche, but one day at a time.

Tragic news this morning that one of the terminal cases died this morning. RIP young lady. Very sad and a somber mood on the ward. Was just one of those cases where nothing went to plan. Desperate.

Latest news is that she has some neutrophil count today which could be a really good sign.

This sounds like good news for Eve, though it must be heartbreaking for the treatment community when other sufferers succumb. We think of you and your family often. Would be great to catch up when we both find a few minutes!

All is going incredibly well. Her blood counts are shooting up and she maybe going home a week earlier than planned. Her feeding tube, which she never really needed, has come out and by the end of the day she should be off all pumps/infusions. She really has confounded all expectations.

Still very early days and much can still go wrong but the bit has gone really really well. She's worked really hard for it too - doing everything she was advised to do diligently.

Thanks, folks!

She's just been told she can go home. We'll probably postpone until tomorrow to give us a chance to get sorted and for them to tell us how Eve should be looking after herself at home and what things to come in for. It's always a bit scary having that responsibility- similar feeling to taking home your first baby for those who are parents.
