Hi I've purcased a genuine garratt gt2871 to replace the std turbo on my forged 20vt.
The std turbo has a nipple on the aluminum casting 'air side' which pipes to what looks like the wastegate relay then to the wastegate actuator.
The new Gt2871 has no nipple on it so is there a walk around mod or do i need to tap in a new nipple on the aluminum housing ? If so does it matter were as long at its not in the way of pipe work?
Yes you're quite right, plumbed in on the snail it would be positive pressure and ideally controlled from there but if you haven't got that take off point it'll work and be safely controlled from the manifold, certainly better then risking over spooling your new turbo.
