At some supermarkets I've noticed that there are always a lot of trolleys just abandoned everywhere in the car park, instead of being placed back in the trolley bays.

Some of them are near parked cars, where they could quite easily get knocked or roll into them and cause damage. But I suppose it doesn't matter does it, to the people who are leaving their trolleys like that? I mean, their cars are fine, so why care about anyone else's property, right?

Makes sense why some supermarkets have shoppers put in a pound to use a trolley. Because whilst manners are totally free, they're somehow still unobtainable for some people. People with manners will put their trolleys back, for a number of reasons. But a pound? That will make sure everyone puts their trolleys back, for at least a hundred reasons.

Also, when you see someone who has been waiting a long time to join the main road, and everybody has just been going past them, so you give them way. And instead of a nod, a smile, a wave or hazard lights to say thank you, they just drive off.

Probably off to the supermarket.

Mentioned above are some of the many, many things in life that adds to my irritability grr

Although, around here, no one waits to join a main road a long time, they just pull out in front of you, usually topped off by driving at 20mph in front of you grr

People just don't give a shit about anyone but themselves and their only concern is for themselves and what they want and need to do.

grr

Yes society in general is getting worse!
One of the reasons i dont like using my car much is due to the total disregard by anybody else in supermarket car parks, where people slam their doors on your car without batting an eyelid and dumping the trolleys as mentioned above

I dont know whats changed? My wife and i have had to work hard to buy our things her car has been keyed mines been scratched and the bonnets been dented there used to be a gang that roamed and just kicked mirrors off cars, stopped now touch wood when one of them got caught, i fixed my neighbours car about 5 times felt really sorry for him being a pensioner who could barely walk

this is the one thing that gets me angry the most, needless damage or violence, my cat was killed on my doorstep as some prick thought it was ok to allow his dog to walk of the lead it was a staffy type dog that forced open a VERY heavy metal gate into my front garden,I went to let my cat in, realised what was happening started shouting at this guy to get his f*ing dog off my cat and he seemed put out that i was swearing at him more than about my cat then just walked off as if nothing happened, by the time i got dressed i couldnt find him and have never seen him since

Just so dislike Liars and selfish people! rage

Your statement has got my on the edge to H_R. I am lucky that I have kids as I can use the Parent Toddler prking bays and that does limit the damage to the car somewhat.

I remember sitting in my car whilst the missing was shopping and some woman let her son run his toy car over the boot of the coupe. Before i realised there was damage she was gone.

The other occasion was with my little 100hp, the council team where strimming the grass outside our flats and the strimmer chucked a stone at my window smashing it. The guy walked of and did not say a word so I reported it. Luckily the council payed for the damage.

The other thing is the Staffy thing, I had a Staffy and many friends have and do. They are freindly and soft as S**te. Sadly you get the sort of individuals you came across owning them which give them a bad name.

I 100% stand by the rule, there is no bad dogs, just bad owners.

Hi totally agree with the above I’m not really sure what you meant so I will reiterate and I’m not having a dig at you or Staffy’s just clarifying

I’m pretty sure I didn’t start going on about the dog other than how strong and powerful they are that it got past a heavy metal gate that we sometimes have to tug hard to open it
I’m also a dog owner and know any breed can be dangerous and the breeds such as the Staffys can be nice as pie!

The point was the idiot that owned it didn’t have it on a lead I saw him holding it in his hand, and it wasn’t muzzled! not sure, but I was under the impression some breeds of dogs need to be muzzled in public including the Staffy? Might be wrong on that!

Wasn’t nice cleaning the blood off my front door just wished it was the owners as well!

I don't go to supermarkets. When Mrs Magoo goes she takes the work truck.

The French are very poor at parking and you will get you're car dinged. But in general they are polite and have manners.

Sorry badly worded, certainly wasn't a dig at you.

Very few breads have to be on a muzzle, Pit bull and possible some japanese breed, but certainly not Staffies. My comment was more aimed at the cloud9 that caused your issues as he gives the breed and owners in general a bad name.

I have 4 cats (6 at the moment with 2 kittens) and up until recently 2 dogs so I feel your pain.

I go to Waitrose, can't be sure but I'd hope that filters out the worst offenders. Though I once saw someone in a 4x4 reverse up the car behind so far, their backwheel crushed the wipers. Yikes!

I've just left the UK to live in Australia and have to say the standard of driving here is noticeably worse than the UK. People are so impatient, and no one lets you out of a side road. In fact they will purposely close a gap to make it harder for you to pull out, merge etc. It's completely at odds with the friendly "laid back" image that Aussies like to portray. I actually miss the driving in the UK!

On the other side of the coin, parking spaces are actually wide enough to accommodate a modern vehicle so I feel less worried about parking dings!

To be fair, you *do* have a lot of surface area over there to fill up with parking lots.

Oh I hope it’s not too bad in oz I had an almost issue with not giving way to a car coming onto the road, apparently you have to give way to vehicles coming on to the highway if you are on it??

I’m over for Easter and offroading over to Frazier island, something I’m a little apprehensive about as I have never done proper off-roading or what my friends over there keep saying is proper off roading, I certainly won’t show it when I’m there though lol

@Barnacle - Good point. There is so much space here it is taking a while to re-callibrate my brain!

@Gripped - So far so good mate! Although the temperature has mostly only been in the high 20s so far. We haven't hit summer yet!

Don't worry it's not that bad especially once you're off the motorways. Sounds like you experienced a typical merge debacle (close your eyes and hope for the best seems to be the preferred option :-))

Sounds like a great trip planned, I'm sure you'll have a blast

We very rarely visit the supermarket. We use them for packaged goods and get them to delivered. Fresh food we always buy local.

Fortunately the muppet supermarket delivery driver backed into the lamp post and not my sons car!

Yes I would agree society has changed & people do seem more selfish. Postcode lottery does play a part & generally up here we still have a village mentality, which is good in this instance.

As a care worker I do some shopping for clients & I'm in & out of supermarkets quite a lot. I've noticed for some time now the upsurge of young bottle blonde females in their chosen SUV in a world of their own, either texting or blethering on the phone, coming into a carpark ignoring the no entry signs & getting all annoyed at the poor saps trying to vacate the car park.

I sometimes park up for a while between clients & do a bit of people watching, it really is an eye opener at times. Oh & dare you try & enter their selfish wee bubble all hell can be let loose...... rage

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

Today I learnt that apparently some people think it's perfectly acceptable to leave a dirty nappy in a car park.

All of a sudden, abandoned trolleys don't seem that bad.

I had this in Stratford (London) car park. Left by the side of my car, I am never going back there again.

H_R, hope you enjoyed Fraser Island, which is one of my favourite places in Queensland. You may have seen me sail past as I was competing in the Brisbane-Gladstone Yacht Race over Easter.

No worries with car parks out at sea although we did play "tow trucks" and towed another competitor for 8 hours, under sail, until the police boat took over. It was either that or you would have been inspecting the wreck on the beach at the top of Fraser near Sandy Cape.
