this web page has tolled me that they will have the QH in stock in about 2 to 3 weeks.

HE sayed to me that he cant assure me that the image is the same as the part, but if it is its the 16vT thermostat.

check the webout:

https://www.oscaro.es/termostato-refrigerante-quinton-hazell-qth520k-1281930-316-p

If anyone can confirm this part number I will try and get a group by for this if there is interest.

the QH part illustrated is the NA part; modify it to T by plugging the unused port. I like the price of the QH...

The Mahle part is also the NA.

I found this searching for inline thermostats: http://www.ipsco.org/Pantera%20Parts/remotethhousing.htm
It's available with 1 3/8" to 1 3/8" hose connections. If I calculated it correctly, that's apx 35mm?

Don't know if Chevrolet thermostats comes in the preferred temperatures, but I recon it should be a good alternative! smile

Here's another page with better details, including pictures of the thermostat used. It's 54mm diameter.

I am interested too. Can't we just organise a group buy and e-mail the suppliers (BGA,Valeo, QT, etc) to make some parts for us?
I don't think that online thermostat is the best idea.

Here is the link to my inline conversion using UK manufactured parts costing between 50 & 60 GBP including the thermostat itself when I did it.

16v Inline thermostat How To

The parts are available from Specialist Components in Norwich who I can arrange a group buy / discount from if required.

The part looks like this...

Only static in the garage - up to fans coming on and back again

Sadly I did not attach startrek at the time so have no recorded temps

But - looked to behave pretty normally

Is it possible to replace only the inner thermostat and keep the housing?

Not really, one end is an ally flange and the other has ally retaining posts, which you can see on the How To pics frown

I sent some e mails to the producers, BG automobile and Mahle Original about the item and only BGA answered:

"Dear Dimitris

Thank you for your email

Unfortunately this item is now obsolete, apologies

So, I was thinking, if someone make a list of members interested in this thermostat and send some e-mails to all these producers, they would think about produce some parts, wouldn't they?

And sadly, no-one is getting anywhere. Every time I've found one advertised, it's been out of stock and not (for obvious reasons) being restocked.

I wonder if this could be solid printed? It would need a high-temperature resin... certainly not an additive nylon-on-a-spool type, but a lasered resin might work.

Oh yes, but the issue is getting the new stat module in.

I think we'd be better CNCing the basic shape, but with some extra shoulder where the output spout is currently crimped, so it could be bolted on/in old school style.

E mail conversation with BGA continued and I asked if there is a way to order some parts for a group of Fiat owners. The answer:

"Dimitris

Thank you for your email

We can put these back in to production but the MOQ would be 200?

200 x £50 each = £10,000 shocked

Hmmm, let me have a look down the back of the sofa...

There are fifty UK cars on the road... and the same 16VTs. It's a worthwhile thing at that price point, but (a) the club doesn't have the funds and (b) I think Dave's £50 is probably optimistic.

This is a wrong way of thinking. They wouldn't produce them for us only, there is a need of them, a lot of owners are looking for them and I believe that if a company produce some items, they will be gone in reasonable time.

Even 20 owners might seem like "a lot" and I agree £50 is optimistic, perhaps £100 is more sensible for a limited re-run like this. I feel your pain, but I think BBR's in-line solution should work, although I would try to get the in-line thermostat sensor closer to the old thermostat houing if at all possible.

But here's a left field suggestion, could you use the ECU temperature reading with a "barnacle 16v thermostat widget" to control an electrical in-line valve? idea

You *could* (would be easier with the analogue signal though) but you'd be silly ill-advised to leave a known and mature technology (i.e. wax capsules) for something new and untried.
