Ha - I’m in the Emirates lounge in Dubai - halfway between Singapore and Heathrow with tears of joy and relief literally rolling down my face. It’s 4.30 am and I have a glass of champagne and a bowl of muesli in front of me.

Just heard that Eve’s chimerism numbers have finally flipped: blood 100% donor, lymphocytes 99% donor. For those that don’t have a clue what this means (and I wouldn’t have) it’s a Good Thing and I’m very happy. Though frustrated to be where I am. But f*** it, i’ll live with it wink

This on a day that we heard one of the lasses on the ward, blind from her treatment, is now putting together her bucket list as her brain tumour is back. And Eve’s best friend on the ward has relapsed and now needs a transplant. Life (cancer in particular) is brutal.

Grab the Good Things.

Cancer seems to be a terrifying world too many people find themselves thrust into, with no warning. I hope you all escape it, Rich, never to return. Best wishes to you all.

Update:

Latest tests still show no sign of the mutation so the plan is for Eve to go back to university - 21 months after she left - to complete her degree.

That also means that we can finally stop living in two (or more) places as a family. I won’t begin to estimate how much it has cost because it doesn’t matter but I do wonder how people manage. I know I’m utterly exhausted and looking forward to a life that’s just a little bit more normal.

The best news, Rich. All power to Eve in resuming her studies and the rest of you in your lives.

Hopefully we might even get to see you for a catch up!
