That's Tim's that was written off when a trucks side swiped it front to back, sold at salvage to a chap who said he'd put it back on the road but obviously not sadly.

Hi guys , I ended up with it as the guy was going to start work abroad. I needed a few bits for my 20vt that's been on a sorn since 2012 so broke this. It's a shame I know as it was solid with no damage so must of been repaired or re-shelled at some point if it's the same car(R-reg)

I built this for Shinyshoes a few years ago, he went off to the US and sold it to Tim_16v.

No sold on Fleabay for £280.00, which is an absolute bargain as it was sold with the gearbox and drive shafts so almost bolt in ready.

I couldn't resist it. I started getting the bits together for a 2.4 conversion a couple of years ago but circumstances meant abandoning the idea. Now I'm in a much better financial position. My coupe is quite low on compression on 3&4, gear box is finished and my cam belt is 10 years old!!So this makes sense. Picked it up including front subframe and steering rack for £340.

Oh dear that's a sad end - it was 50/50 on whether to carry on after the incident.

Still, good to see the running gear going to help another Coupe.

During my tenure it was turbine smooth with spot on oil pressure. Also the flat torque curve c190 lbs/ft from 1500 ish wafted me along like a V6.

I didn't keep an eye on it I'm afraid as I'm a low mileage driver and it was only used for weekend activities. Didn't seem excessive at all though.

Not sure I even got to 1,000 miles in it.

Let us know how you get on - would be an interesting project to watch!

That'll be the longer stroke. Great GT engine. Does it belong in a coupe? A front wheel drive with the the looks of a mid engined sports car. So confusing. smile

Can't help wishing for someone to put a flat plane crank v8 in the middle of one!

I specify flat plane crank rather than cross plane crank cos of the lighter counter weights, lower centre of gravity, better exhaust scavenging, shorter stroke and greater scope for valve area. Proper race engine basically.
