Start-up it jumps to 3000rpm then slowly over a few minutes drops to 1500. When it reaches correct operating temperature it increases up to 3000. Any idea?

Idle control valve needs a clean - 10 min job.

Pretty sure there is a guide if you search for it... :-)

Thanks suba, thought the ICV might be the problem. Just wanted to confirm my thoughts before I set out to clean it.

My widget showed MAF fault which has now been replaced but the fault still showed up. 2 weeks later I replaced the ICV and vacuum pipes. Fault has now cleared but still revving too high, around 1250. It also drops sometimes when I press the clutch pedal.

Any idea where to look next?

Early in my Coop ownership I was plagued with high revving time after time. I had leaks in the system all over the place, just when I thought things settled down, up came the revs again, in the end there were things sorted out but the main culprit was the doughnuts, on closer inspection they were mostly all cracked, changed the five of them, bingo. Worth a look.

Bosch Throttle Position Sensor 0280122001 is an easy change. Around £26.00 for the part.

Have one on order, fingers crossed that solves the revving problem. If not next stage would be doughnuts.

Any idea where I might pick set up?

I managed to buy a set at my local Fiat garage, & the young storeman who I thought was a bit quiet & uninterested gave me a decent discount. smile

Tried my local dealer, unfortunately they haven't.

Maybe silicone might be the way to go, if not any good condition used.

Or if you're not quite sure how many you need, nine should be enough

Yes, I suppose "9 for sale" could be interpreted as there being 9 for sale at £7 each but that's not how I read the as, which was 9 for £7. If there were 9 at £3 each the ad should have been set up with a selection box to ask how many the buyer wants...

This is the thing Serg about our cars, compared to other marks the Coop is only loved by those in the know, they get under your skin & when running as they should, you are a young man again behind the wheel of a car of high caliber although long in the tooth, but when glitches enter into the equation it's a pain in the esra. Ach! all Coop owners know this..... hippy

Very true jimboy, I've had coupes for 11 years and I can't see my life without one.

That's very kind adam16vt, I'll take you up on your kind offer. PM me the postage etc and how you wish to be paid.

Forum power 👍

Thought it might help others to update this thread.

After replacing various parts only to find I still had the same high revving issue. After surfing the net I found a local garage that specialise in Italian cars. I've driven pass this garage on many occasions and not noticed it or even the large picture of a yellow coupe in the windrow.

Yesterday I dropped off my car. They quickly discovered the problem, accelerator cable needed adjusting. They told me it only needed adjusting by 1mm to solve that problem. Easy fix for them but took me weeks trying to solve it myself.

Hopefully this will help others who have the same high revving problem.
