Just thought I'd mention this as it's more common than you might think.

I have a VIS which is now fully recommissioned at great expense.

I noticed it wasn't really pulling as expected above about 5500RPM. Looking at the specs for the engine peak power is delivered at 6700RPM which suggests the engine should be a proper screamer.

Anyway I disconnected the Mass Air Flow Meter and gained about 30bhp and I promise I'm not exaggerating. As the ECU learned it got faster and faster. Feels more like 170bhp than 152bhp!

Ordered a new MAF meter today.

My mate had a Marea and he had the exact same experience with that. Definitely worth unplugging the meter and see if you gain any power.

Its more likely that your MAF was knackered and you were actually only getting about 130bhp. Fitting a new one has given you the 155bhp you should always have had

You're right, felt like about 130bhp to me before. But Still think it's putting out more than 152bhp now.

Precisely what happened with my VIS. It had a big power dip at high revs. New MAF sorted it. Luckily the VIS used the later MAF which is cheaper. I think I paid around £90.

Yep, ordered a new one yesterday. Bosch from ECP. £90 too but only because they have a 35% discount on atm.

Fitted new maf meter this morning. Idling smoothly again, still got all its power but engine warning light staying on. Does it take a few starts to go off or codes clearing or something?

Just found this. 156k on the clock and still putting out 165bhp. I'm starting to think the VIS is currently the most undervalued coupe of all.

More evidence of the quality of the VIS engine. Four Vis on this list and they all put out more power than the 152bhp that wiki claims to be correct!

The two Coupés with 165 and 169(mine laugh ) we're both remapped by Flea which could explain it. Mine was spot on 155bhp before remap.

Definitely improved the drive. Bit more torquey and smooth power delivery across the range. Fuel economy good too.

The only thing I would say is don't expect a massive change, as a non-turbo can only remap to an extra 10bhp or so, compared to turbo'd which will go 30bhp+ without mods, not to mention the extra torque.

Yep, my LE was done there back when Matthew owned it. 263bhp! If I get 10 extra from the VIS I will be very happy. Would expect a little less than that.

Did you get an RPM limit increases too?

Yes RPM went just over 7k. Never rev it that high though.
