They are still pretty cheap. Anything from £3.5 - £10k for a minter. Half decent early ones from around £4 - 5k.

The legendary front engine, rear wheel drive format, the grunt of a big V6, and more strut braces than you can shake a stick at. And with the right zorst, they sound awesome. Plenty of tuning kits if you're into that sort of thing.

What's not to like??

I keep surfing ebay and autotrader..... can anyone convince me to stop? Currently thinking, find a garage for the Coupe and swap them round on SORN.

I was after the 350Z a few years ago, went with the GTV V6 instead in the end. Guess there are more pitfalls with the GTV but mine (touch wood) has not had any problems. Early 350z's have a few minor niggles which are easily sorted seem to remember sensors as an issue also have lower tax, post 2006 models are circa £500pa, yikes! Clutch is around £800-1200 to replace, MPG is pretty awful as are most V6s mind. A great GT car akin to the Coupe. Prices as you say are low and good ones like the Coupe will hold or increase value as the years tick by, so a car that won't 'lose' you any money.

Definitely an itch I wish to scratch soon, still fancy one, frontal area looks great but the rear is butt ugly like most Jap cars. PHs have some good Owner feedback in their Forums and I think a 350z GTS has a place in their PH Heroes....as does the Coupe!

I fancy one now too!

My cousin works for Nissan and warned me off them, I can’t remember why now but I trusted his judgement

I’m sure they had gearbox issues as well, sorry I can’t be any more help

Thanks both. I have heard various stories of problems, but hey, if you read similar stories about the Fiat Coupe, you'd never buy one. They can burn a bit of oil apparently. (sound familiar)

As far as I can tell, they are pretty reliable on the whole. Main thing with older ones is the dreaded rot, but plenty on the market to choose from.

As for looks, I like em. Yes, the rear isn't the best part, but still looks ok IMO. The interior is meant to be a bit plasticy and cheap, but it's a proper drivers car.

Fuel economy wise, I've heard on the forums that they can (with a gentle right foot) achieve mid 30s mpg... obviously, driven hard you'd be into the teens, but this is no worse than a 20VT.

I'd be after the pre March 2007 for lower tax band. This also restricts me to the DE rather than HR engine, but 280bhp will be plenty !

I'd love a GTV or any other Alfa with a Busso V6 for that matter, but somehow it would be too similar to the Coupe in terms of FWD format. I fancy something I can use on track days too...

In the coupe.
They are heavy on track,my coupe will roast an early 350 and it gives the 370 a good run ,there are coupes out there that will roast a 370 also.

On a hill climb last year I was about 3 seconds quicker than a 350 over about 1.8 klm. But that might just be about commitment.

But I do like them and may well buy one at some point.

Buying must be a similar thing to buying a coupe. Has it been boy raced? How expensive if it goes wrong.

Thing is to go look at some and Suss out the owner and how he cares for it.

wow. Is your coupe standard 220bhp etc?

I'll be approaching it from the perspective of an NA Fiat Coupe, so I suspect it'll certainly be quicker than that... wink

Coming from an na any 350z will feel cool quick by comparison I think.
I went from my standard vis to the 190 brake V6 and I thought I was Larini.
You need to do it, Toby.
You've been thinking about it for a long time now. Just for the sound, and the looks.
Bronze with tan interior is my fave combo.

Just give rwd some respect. I lost my 75 big time on Evesham by pass dicking around.
But then your Bongo is a rwd tarmac shredder so you're used to rwd already

Absolutely. 169bhp VIS to 278bhp 350z will be an interesting step up. Bongo is automatic, so the only time it ever breaks traction is in the snow or mud. I've put all season tyres on it this year, so looking forward to some snow to try it out.

Are they any for sale near you that you can test drive?
A lady used to rag one round Hereford, she has a gt 86 now.
There's a beauty always parked at the side of the road in Old Radnor on the way to Rhayader.

There are a few around on fleabay and elsewhere, so good choice.

Back to performance, I saw an old 5th Gear video of Vicky B-H racing around their N Wales circuit against an Audi TT V6 quattro. The 350Z beat it convincingly. Admittedly the TT has less power, but nice to know the 350 holds it's own.

5th gear

I remember Tiff or Jason being bored with the TT after half a lap, and preferring the Z.

Yep, the TT is the nicer place to sit and the Z has the edge on the drive. I haven't managed to sit in a Z yet, so I'm hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised, but my expectations are not high.

Just ignore the spoiler and turn your speakers up.

So Gripped, how's that helped with the eBay and AutoTrader surfing? wink

I wonder if British Airways realises that one of their planes is missing a wing??

I didn't need any more encouragement (according to Mrs G) but thanks !

I like the V6 sound, but that is just anti-social and what with that wing to....a total Barry Boy.

Absolutely. I believe an alternatice word would be a Ricer...

I love the sound of nice zorst but it has to be quiet enough for a long drive without being annoying.
