Well she almost did not notice the bodykit..... New front lip also on way from Mariuz - only got one on after breaking the other at the moment! No taking the p*ss out of my launches BTW - the only way I ever get a good one is by being a jammy git!

I WANT F40
I was reading my MSA mag (Motorsports now!) and I came across this advert:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v187/S1MMA/Fiat/forzaitalia.jpg

I thought the Fiat Coupe part may have something to do with the support for the event from you chaps. Would be nice to go along, but I think I'm busy that day. So who's going to be up for whipping some Integrale and Punto butt?

Sideways a LOT

But organisation seems to be piss poor. They've been advertising the Fastest integrale shoot out, now they are advertising the Fiat Coupe shoot out

You'd think they'd get in touch in advance with the integrale and Coupe people (ie this site and the Evo Forum, or the LMC, etc) but no-one seems to have bothered. So they'll have to figure it all out on the day, sifting between what's about when they could have arranged things in advance

Or as is more likely, it will be a free for all and they might compile the results after the event in some semblance of order to look like there was a shootout

Right, be honest here guys n girls!

I have never been to the pod before, although mates have been etc etc heard all the stories and wanted to go for ages!.

The only thing is, is it going to be worth me actually having a go at the 1/4 or would it be best to just watch on in awe and amazement for the first time of being up there? I dont want to make a complete an utter fool of myself and i also dont want some chav stylee punto thinking they can beat a coupe, just because i fccuked the start up!
So is it worth me having a go? If so any tips learnt from experience?

Also just how clean, neat, tidy and polished are your coupes? I dont want to let he side down with slight cosmetics or something!

Oh the worries....
Cheers

JayB - don't worry!

There will always be something faster, cleaner, tidier than you - so don't get too stressed that you will let the side down.

Yes it is quite difficult to get a good run at the pod, and lots of people just do massive wheels spins etc... it takes quite a bit of practise, but don't let that put you off.

Just come along and enjoy the fun

You need to have a go, you won't really learn anything by watching - the key seems to be balancing the wheelspin against bogging down... It's great fun

I definately won't be running down the 1/4mile, done it plenty of times in the past and can't afford a new clutch again at the moment.
Launching at the pod is tricky, it's not designed for road tyres. The technique will vary from car to car but I found that dropping the fronts down to 25psi and giving them a good burnout helped. Then get to the 1st staging light, revs to 2700, hold it on the clutch (it's slightly uphill at the start), creep it to the 2nd light and when you get the greens just dump it and floor it

You can be as gentle or as harsh as you like. The Pod is actually pretty forgiving as the lack of grip means you disperse the energy through wheelspin rather than driveshafts, clutches etc

It would just be sooo tempting to up the boost just for the 1/4 mile. I could run 1.5Bar like 'fearless frag'.

I'm still waiting for all the info to arrive from them, phoned and they are chasing it up for me.
I know the fiatforum have had trouble sorting things too.
Think some of the problem comes from Auto Italia plus lack of communication.
As soon as I hear anything from you I'll let you all know.

If it's anything like the one i have seen at other events, i wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, no cooling fan is being blown onto it, and they hold it at certain revs in 3rd or 4th gear, clever eh?
