Hi all, going to fit my gtech 1 at the end of the month and head slowly to a rolling road to get the fuelling checked, heard a few folk speaking about uprated ebv's, i am keen to keep an ebv in for engine safety as oppose to a prv, question is would an uprated ebv work better than a standard one as heard a few folk saying that there ebv struggles when inputting a gtech 1, and would it prevent boost spikes and how dangerous are boost spikes, sorry for all the questions, new to this tuning thing lol, cheers

I use a perrin, and it seems to control things better with higher boost chips - I run a gtec 2 and found the perrin gave me less overboost, and less boost seesawing that you sometimes get when running higher boost chips. I hear from other people that one of the GM ebvs is good and fairly cheap too...

So why exactly is an ebv safer than a prv?

from what i understand which is not a lot lol, it allows the engine to cut the boost if it detects a problem whereas a prv maintains it, i think lol

because it allows the ecu to back off the boost if detects something wrong

What is the max boost you get with Perrin and Gtec2? I assume the Gtec2 is a standard one and not a special chip from GrahamL.

Yes, it's standard. No more than 1.1-1.2 with my current setup.
