As title says,
What tyre sizes are people running on their 17" alloys? I am running 205/40/17 but was just curious what others have.
smile

ps sig pic is not up to date.

I've got 215/40/17, the overall diameter is nearer to original than 205/40/17

Now thats a good point Dave, my car is lowered on a Koni adjustable damper and spring kit set to soft.
On the stock 16's the ride was firm but good and comfortable.
Have noticed on the 205/40/17's that it is just a tad harsh and less smooth. Although handling is still spot on, maybe a 45 profile might also be worth consideration.

225/40-17 would be exactly right but they don't exist.

215/40-17 or 235/40-17 are closest to original size (diameter). smile

Mind you "40" is not mm, it's the percentage of the width. So the 235/40 would be quite comfortable.
(215/45-17 is MUCH larger than std)

I've got 215/45 r17 on 17x7et28 rims (et38 rim with 10mm spacers) and they scrub (lightly) against the inner wheelarch lining, on full lock.
However, I'd say they are 30% more comfortable than previous 225/45 r16, althougt tyre model might be the thing to contribute (old Pirelli p7 vs. new Conti's Excellence)

The car is std. height 20vt.
I'm quite puzzled, because 16vt "plus" has even greater wheels, 205/55 r16 (16x6,5 et40 rims) and they dont scrub?
Must be slightly different suspension geometry (different pillar on 20vt) and/or me messing with the ET (brembo clearance issue), changing the pivoting radius (horizontal plane) of the wheels?

Does anyone use 245/35 17"? Maybe they are too big and touch the inside tongue

The inaccuracy assumes that the standard wheels give 70mph when the speedo says 70mph. We all know this isn't true so you're better off going for a slightly bigger than slightly smaller circumference.

A bigger sidewall will give a smoother ride, but unless you go smaller, you won't gain any improvement in turn-in.

All things considered (sidewall, circumference and price) the 205/45/17 looks the best to me.

F****** b****** thing...

Same as flyingcustard. I have 215/45 on my 20v NA with no rubbing at all. Wheels are et35. I noticed that not every tire from the same size (i.e not all 215/45 R17) have the same size indeed laugh. This sounds crazy; but it is what I could check; so it is worth searching the right tire to reach a good compromise between comfort and nice look. Here is a HD pic of my coop showing these wheels and tires:

Trappy I dunno what the 3rd line of numbers is, but I think the bottom line of numbers (effective speedo reading assuming it's accurate at 70mph with 205/50x16) are wrong (difference is exaggerated) apart from the 68.2 for 205/40x17

There is another similar thread running here too http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1023433

Team Dynamics pro race2 8'inch wide .
I would fit something 215/40/17 , next time , it's cheaper and more progressive ( i mean track day tyres).
