The dyno result from Tom Snelling's Punto with a (very tidy) 16VT engine conversion.
Totally stock except for:

tubular manifold
FMIC
APEX1 AVC-R boost controller
Live mapped by me! smile

18 psi (1.2 bar) at peak torque dropping to 11.6 psi (0.8 bar) at peak horsepower.

It would have been nice if the turbo could have held more than 0.8 bar at peak bhp. However, the lightweight Punto combined with a decent wodge of torque equals one rapid car.

Note the calculated flywheel hosepower is only 23 bhp higher than the wheel-horsepaower - not 40-odd like some other dynos. So that's a genuine 227bhp @ 0.8 bar and 274 lbs ft @ 1.2 bar. No dodgy optimistic dyno results here.

I'd love to have a go in that car, a little nimble punto with that power must be fun.

Fair play to you both.

Now in the 400+ bhp club!

That must be great fun.. I had a GT3 which was meant to be putting out 175+ on the stock 1.4 plus a few mods. On the track it was awesome.. Small car lots of power is more fun than huge power with a mass of weight to deal with.
Nice work.. cool

Friend of mine (Scorpion, had a Coupe before, was on here) had his Punto GT modified to 285bhp. From that 1.4 engine. Crazy.

285bhp? Are you sure, that wouldnt have been at all reliable! Lag must have been ridiculous!

Difference between 285bhp 1.4 and mine is that Ive probably got about 100lb/ft torque!

Good result Tom and KJ

273ft/lbs is impressive out of an OE turbo, I see torque really drops off a bit as revs rise as to be expected (small OE turbo) and peak torque is low down in the rev range, great auto x or road rally curve - plently of mid range punch.

I'm sure this is a great power curve to drive in such a light weight car and with all that torque.

Good result, now how long will it stay standard wink

Bet thats loads of fun to drive. Peak power and torque (at the wheels) are almost identical to my standard coupe after it was mapped (and i was very pleased with that). Torque on mine holds a little better and the graph looks smoother. I suspect the Manifold and fmic will only help with a bigger turbo and MAY not be a good thing in a standard car.
its the the brutal power delivery in a 16vt thats fun, none of this controlled boring power found in newer cars.

And in a punto!!

Not very long if all goes to plan!
