Hi chaps, just thought i'd copy this question here and i didn't have much luck on the delphi forum-

"Hi,
I've been rebuilding my Evo1 turbo with a 360 degree kit and although i've ground the turbine down .005" to suit the over(under!) sized bearings i've still got the O.D. of the bearing sleeve to worry about as the bearing housing is also worn. Anyway i'm thinking about maybe ditching that one and putting the kit on an Evo2 turbo or Fiat coupe 16VT unit. Am i right in thinking that the compressor housing is smaller on this unit? Would be an advantage because i'm fitting it to my HF Turbo and would save having to shave away the bellhousing and front X member!
Thanks for any ideas,
Guy"

Hello Guy, making your way over here too ?

I can't really help too much, but there are some clever turbo bods on fccuk that probably can.

The compressor wheel is smaller on the later evo and coupe, so I guess the housing would be also ???

The Coupe housing is a standard T3 (smaller)

Your bearing housing is stuffed, its best to use another.

Yeah, there's a wealth of knowledge here on the 16VT engine. Sounds like people have had more time/money to put into their engine rather than keeping a rusty delta body in one piece!

So it is actually smaller than the delta EVO1/16v housing? When you say "standard" are you suggesting that the delta EVO1/16v one is bigger than standard?
Cheers,
Guy

The Evo 1 had a Garrett T35, or strictly speaking a TB0385 part number 465553-0001

This is very similar to the larger of the two Sierra Cosworth 4wd T34 turbo, or more correctly a TB0384 part number 452059-0001.

Both have a T3 hot side, and there are three housing variations with different A/Rs. Definitely not a T4 housing.

The Evo 2 had the smaller TB0367 turbo, part number 465103-0006 also used on the Thema S2 and S3.

The Escort Cosworth T34 is more correctly a TB3403 part number 452059-0001. It too has a T3 hotside.
