Hi all,

its probably been covered but looking at getting another clutch.

I was browsing through ebay etc. any suggestions ??

I have seen a "Heavy Duty" road clutch by "TECHNICLUTCH" any one got one of these or can recommend them ?.

I am after a unit that is not on / off but alike the usage with a standard clutch.

Gotta get another one soonish - starting to feel slip so Any info is greatly appreciated.

All ignore my Post (found more info on page 2) Doh !!
Standard Valeo will suffice up to 300bhp.

I'll stick with that.

I may be wrong, but I think a heavy duty Techniclutch unit is a standard Valeo clutch with some extra paint! Are you running standard power - if so I would just fit another OE unit.

Aren't these the 'manufacturers' that get a good slating on here? Seems to be the standard response when anybody mentions 'techniclutch'.... could be wrong though.

Last i knew, techniclutch were being mysterious about how they have uprated the clutch plate, eventually claiming that they turned the cover plate so the springs had more pressure - However this looks like nonsense from my personal comparisons with a vernier caliper.

Therefore you'd be wise to assume its no better than standard - unless of course, you feel happier knowing that theres a yellow painted cover in there.

As Rog says, avoid tecchieclutch or whatever they are, rubbish junk, quite why you need to paint the cover is pointless, as it'll never see daylight, until you take it to Rog for a proper clutch ! laugh

go for the prefer types, Helix, OMP, walkers etc...

plenty out there to choose from now, best bet is to PM Rog / Barbz etc & get one that matches what YOU want from it smile

Was unable to find cheaper alternative here in my country, and for now techniclutch or std valeo is fine for me, anyway will need my existing clutch to uprate it's pressure plate and nail ceramic paddle buttons on. Many high bhp cars here used "hand-uprated" clutchs and plates like this, no matter how that's sounds to you.

Techniclutch are rated upto 15% more clamping force.
The pressure plates are uprated but they dont usually quote the exact figures for obvious reasons.

The clutches i fit (paddles not techniclutch)were rated to 25-30% more clamping force but there running in a 400bhp motor and serveral 300+ bhp cars with no issues,.
And the standard valeo will take over 300bhp for some time even with some abuse.

In the 2 experiences i have had the techniclutch hasnt held the standard power for more than 6 months.

Good value for money,so always worth the risk but if your paying for labour then it can be costly to replace twice.

How can the std clutch take over 300hp with some abuse but the Techniclutch which is a std valeo painted/up-rated not last more than 6 months on std power?

Because the Techniclutch probably isn't a Valeo unit - it is more likely to be a cheaper imitation, with less durable friction material

FYI - today i compared Techniclutch kit for 20VT with clutch kit for my Alfa 156 2.5V6 - pressure plate fits to 2.5 flywheel, and viceversa....the only difference between is the friction plate - on 2.5V6 it's 6mm shorter, 34mm and 20VT plate is 40mm.......bearing's same.
Curious if Techniclutch pressure plate is stiffer than 2.5....hope will find out that tomorrow......

My helix was rated to 400 and it runs well over.
As above they seriously under rate figures.

What is shorter on the friction plate?
Do you mean that the diameter is smaller?
