Probably not to everyone's taste but I fancied a change and my alloys were a bit of a mess anyway so they have gone from THIS to THIS tongue

Took a fair time sanding and filling all the chips etc but I managed to get quite high on the paint fumes, which was nice ! crazy

Just bought some nice drilled MTEC discs to go behind them now, dammit if I hadn't touched the alloys I'd of been content with the old rusty discs !

Was Ford Graphite grey from Halfords. Seem to remember it was a popular choice for an alternative colour a while back ??

Any issues with the paint bubbling/blistering on the fronts?

With the heat I mean.

Cheers nismo laugh
I've not driven the car yet but unless I get a seized caliper and roast the disc I don't forsee the paint on the wheel being subjected to any real heat TBH.

You'd be very surprised at just how much heat is generated from not only the brakes, but the tyre as well.

Ever touched your wheel/caliper after a drive?

Yeah I have but the fact I can touch it at all and not get burned suggests that the paint is in no danger of blistering. The wheels do have the advantage of cooling as they spin in the surrounding air.
The caliper would obviously be much hotter and the paint has a higher threshold ie. different paint.

Im sure if it all goes pete tong i'll no doubt post my woes on here ! wink

I just mentioned it due to my own experience - I painted as set of 20VT rims for the 16, rears were fine, fronts developed blisters, which I can only put down to the heat.

I did yeah, although I should point out, I didnt use any VHT paint, probably where i went wrong.

Maybe a coat of VHT first, then colour, then VHT clear would be ok?

Nor me man so i'll see how it goes, i was pretty carefull to give the colour coat a good key to the primer and used petrol resistant lacqer.

Cheers
