Well I have 2 cars; my black coupe LE and a black vx220 turbo. The insurance was due on both as I had them on an Admiral multicar policy.
The renewal quote was more than last year at a grand for both fully comp with protected no claims so I was not happy and decided to phone around and had a shock.

Car 1.. Vx220 turbo.

From looking at the vx forum CCI seemed like the place to try. I phoned them up got fully comp insurance on the vx with declared stage 2 at 240bhp for £430 this includes 5 uk trackdays or 3 uk and 2 abroad including a month of european cover and they said I could modify it however I wanted and it would not matter! That was with a car value of £14000.

Car 2.

Phoned a classic car insurance up for the coupe and got told its not a classic and the best they could do was £750, for just a limited mileage policy on a 4 grand car. What a load of crap after what I just managed to sort for the vx!

Phoned Admiral back up and they wanted 450 quid fully comp.

So saved just over a 100 quid and managed to get track day cover as well. But there must be some women's logic somewhere that a policy for a 14 grand car insured for track days is cheaper than a 4 grand fiat for limited normal use.

I think Adrian Flux can get the Coupe on a Classic policy... They are pretty good.

Neil Willies or Adrian Flux;

I have two Coupes and a 1996 Alfa Spider, each under £300 FC with agreed value, 5K miles a year.

We can insure the coupe on a classic policy with various insurers or under a sports car policy with the added benefit of upto 5 days track day cover

Thanks

Snap smile only 5000 mile limit though - enough for me, as I have another daily use car.

Was far cheapest for me aswel - about £230

This is why the forum for the respective car is so important to owners.

There are a lot of forums/clubs, including FCCUK, that have agreements in place with a specialist company and have therefore agreed a specialist policy for the vehicle in question, which in the majority of cases provides better cover beenfits than on an everyday policy as they have specifically negotiated this.

I used Noel Dazeley, as although more expensive than Neil Willies, they offered unlimited mileage. Only £40 difference, although Neil Willies, did include breakdown as well.
