LE kit or not (can of worms)..... #1323985

I'll be picking my new 20VT up in a few days (hopefully), which as it stands looks totally original externally. Standard wheels, no wings, skirts, lips, etc, black sills.

Now I do really like this 'clean' look, but I also like the LE lips and skirts. So the question is, should I or shouldn't I get it fitted out with said stying extras? If I do, how reversible are they.... I gather the lips in particular are generally glued on, which sounds a little permanent to me.

It's 99% reversible (on the cheap). It's the glue that you may struggle to remove DIY. A good body shop should be fine getting them off.

I'd do it and worry about it later if you have to.

Have just purchased a new Le kit from Auto Ds as my kit is a little tired with cracks in the skirts and the lips have suffered from a few years of being attached to a lowered coupe.

The quality of the skirts which I have offered up to the car are superb so I will also suggest going this route.

I was in your boat, The coupe looks stunning totally original but looks great with the Le and Zender kits also. I was totally torn but am glad I put a kit on my old 20v my next silver 20vt was stock and personally I think this colour looks stunning and clean with a Le kit and dark alloys , example wish id got round to putting a kit on it but purchased my current car instead.

I would look at some images or view some cars with the Le kit on. smile

Agreed bridges, that example does look good. I think darker alloys suit the silver/steel grey.

I wanted to get the LE look for mine, but in the end I decided to leave it as Fiat intended.

nearly referenced your car Gunzi it was the one I had in mind when saying how good a stock coupe can look, but I do think the color of yours does lend itself to looking good with black sills

I have a steel grey and have thought about putting a le kit on it loads of times, I even brought a le kit never fitted it,then sold it.

I like steel grey with the original black and think it looks good with black wheels as well, I think steel grey and the wine(?) red are both colours that make the black look kind of "classy" in original trim.

I also like sprint blue with the black skirts but this I think makes it look more like a "RS" i.e porsche.

p.s Gunzi your car looks love

Thanks Bridges and Jonone, I still love the colour combo!

JKD that's not the LE kit, or was that the point?!

I love the look of the LE kit, really finishes the car off. Also makes it look alot lower to the ground.

I got my Coupe last year and I was very lucky to have them already fitted and with dark wheels. Really suits her love

Pain in the ass to jack up though, and as for getting it up on those ramps you have to drive up if you have lips... crazy Looks love though.

I agree that the LE kit suits some colours better than others. I think the black bits look really good on a steel grey, for example, but not so good on a yellow coupe. Here's my steely looking nice and original:

trouble with the Le or most kits is that they suffer bumps and as pointed out jacking the car up especially if lowered is a pain, although my trolley jack will go under at the skirts highest point near B pillar and then slide forwards or backwards to jacking points. Pictures from last year of mine after I span at slow speeds (due to low rear tyre pressure) clipped a verge and pretty much finished off my already battered my Le lips,

That looks factory fresh love

I have occasionally toyed with the idea of colour coding but I would never add any more lines/angles by fitting skirts.
The coupe needs that straight edge to frame the exsisting lines.
Looking back I'm glad I stuck with black now.

There is NO Question about it !!!!

Get the Kit -
Fit the Kit -

Be extremely happy with the results, its not too blingy, infact its a subtle touch that Fiat should have done as standard (along with many other things - that should have been done standard).

Do it do it do it

you WONT regret it at all.

Proud LE owner.

there is but only 2 models (really)
LE and PLUS

IMO

Each to their own really. I like with and without (former 16V n/a owner). Just don't add any tea-tray spoilers IMO.......
The LE kit moulds so well to the existing shape it hardly looks an add-on to me.

If you're getting an LE kit, I'd recommend getting a Zender rear bumper extension too. It's unobtrusive, but gives a slightly chunkier lower bumper and a better balance to the car visually.

I always thought the LE was missing something at the back. It was probably a Friday around 4 o'clock when Fiat got around to the back of the Coupé when designing the LE kit.... laugh

I don't have a great pic to hand but you get the idea...

I'm not a huge fan on the side skirts either, but I do like some the the design tweeks of the LE, such as the light cups, dark wheels and wing mirrors.

I'm in the process of modding mine to look similar, very happy with the results so far!
