If you have any interest in UFOs at all then you must be aware that this has been extensively and comprehensively shown to be fake. Why would you try to pass it off as evidence? Where was it proved fake? If it has then im unaware, it actually made the news on 'fox news' which was a supprise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3AGv6IXp_8&feature=relatedwhats your view on the battle of los angles 1942?

My interest in UFOs is fairly limited, but I knew it had been proved fake. Google, "Jerusalem UFO hoax" and take your pick. whats your view on the battle of los angles 1942? I don't have one, as I don't see a problem with the official view and it's too far into the past to gather any evidence to contradict it. I am one of the few people to like the film 1942, which is in itself strange and unexplained.

So a journey which takes 50,000 years from the perspective of external observers, might only take 40 years for those on-board the ship. In other words travelling to other stars within our galaxy would be possible within a human lifetime.
If you do the sums, it turns out that provided you have the power to accelerate (e.g. a Bussard magnetic ramjet, not that anyone's demonstrated how to build one yet!) *anywhere* in the universe is within about 20 years travelling time. In the ship, that is - outside up to 13 billion years pass, which might be a bit of a bugger if you left the gas on... Will my body take that sort of g-force - or can we say, build up to full throttle just past the Milky Way?

Well if you get your fag packet out ...
Speed of light = 300,000,000 m/s Acceleration at 1g = 9.8 m/s/s Big number divided by little number then converted in minutes, hours, days = 1 year, give or take a tad.
Obviously you don't have to accelerate at 1g, but doing so gives you a spaceship with a comfortable approximation of gravity.
If you were prepared to put up with the sort of g that Welformed experiences when he drops it to 3rd then you could reach light speed in a matter of minutes, with no harmful side-effects, other than a tendancy to talk bollocks about economics.

The official us army respone was it was a weather ballon in 1983, that at least had 1400 shells fired at it and had no effect? you have to admit yourself what ballon could take that amount of damage and continue course? Also on Radar you would think they could identfiy a weather ballon from a target that they see fit to start firing on?

But it's a long leap from "We shot a lot of bullets at something and it didn't come down" to "Well, it must be our alien creators popping in to see how we're doing without actually communicating to us."

We don't know how many (if any) shells hit the object, and radar was a pretty new technology in 1942, so I wouldn't put too much faith in that.
As I said, there's no evidence one way or another, and it's unlikely that any is going to suddenly appear.

Any race that has the technology to visit and the energy to perform such a frivolous task would likely understand the impact of this on a none developed race and the dangers of technology they posses falling in to the hands of people that still shoot each over decomposed dino matter (not that there doing a great job of not being detected apparently) You've kind of skirted my point rather than answer it. They don't show themselves - except sometimes - to some people (often in the moonshine belt of the USA - or Scotland). Why would they do that? They even crash occasionally (or so we are led to believe) but don't have the wherewithall to clear up. Let's face it, Santa Claus, the tooth fairy and the Loch Ness monster have had a bigger impact on my life and, personally, I have more "evidence" that the first two exist than I do UFOs. I have no doubt that there's life out there. If it can travel this far, it doesn't have a lot of interest in us.

In 1942, there *was* no radar. Not in common use, maybe, but the principles which would eventually form radar had been proven.

Perhaps, Barnacle, we're forgetting the first principle of UFOlogy, which is that the government always lies.
So we may have falled foul of the disinformation campaign that spread the lie that radar wasn't in use in 1942, when actually governments have had it all the way back to the late 1700s.

Actually the first principle of ufology is to explain the phenemenom. But your explanation is as relevant as someone saying it was God flashing his torch around taking a look at his flock at night. Neither is in the slightest bit reasoned and is no way to explain any phenemenom[sic].

Using just the links you have provided Jonny, the Wiki article for the 'Battle of Los Angeles' gives 6 theories which were given at and around the time: - false alarm
- commercial airplanes used as a psychological warfare campaign to generate panic
- a secret Japanese base in northern Mexico
- Japanese submarines stationed offshore with the capability of carrying planes.
- the incident was either staged or exaggerated to give coastal defense industries an excuse to move further inland.
- a practice raid
- a mistaken identity raid
Would you care to present your evidence as to why none of these 'theories' are correct?

Jonny, I'm sure the government does lie. In fact we know it lies because it frequently gets caught lying.
However, your point of view presupposes that the government, all governments, have been seamlessly lying for more than 70 years, and that the press is complicit in this (you've mentioned several times that there are things that regular news outlets are not allowed to report about) and that the government actively kills or discredits some, but not all, of the people who speak out on these matters, and that, as far as is visible, the government has never deployed any of the extraterrestrial information it hoardes in any way.
That is staggeringly unlikely, before you strart throwing aliens into the mix.
Dear monos, a secret truth.

An alien life could already be here? Being undetectable to us and living amongst us now, if we can't see, hear, feel, smell them etc how do we know? Or could our world be alien to theres? Just thinking of the final scene in Men in Black 2

That is not correct Andrew, granted the US government hasnt some has been leaked out from internal sources. However many countrys either have or are relasing their data the list includes NEW ZEALAND New Zealand MoD prepares to release classified UFO documents UFOCUS NZ Research Network media release. 27 January 2010 Over the past 14 months, New Zealand’s UFO Research Network, UFOCUS NZ, has communicated directly with Lt Gen Jerry Mateparae, Chief of Defence Force NZ, on the issue of the release of MoD classified UFO sighting reports and related documents A Chief of Defence Force office spokesperson advised, “The declassification of the UFO files is now a ‘work in progress’ in conjunction with Archives New Zealand. The files must be amended to meet new requirements of the Privacy Act.” BRAZIL May 20 was an historic day for Ufology in Brazil and in the world as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), for the very first time in its history, officially receives a committee of top UFO researchers to openly discuss sightings in the country and fully exam classified UFO documents in several military facilities in Brasilia, the Federal Capital. As of May 04th (2009), Brazilian Government has disclosed over 600 new pages of previously classified documents, covering UFO reports and military investigations from 1970 to 1979, including photos and films, for the first time DENMARK The Air Force has followed the example of the UK and declassified secret archives on UFO sightings occurring over the last 25 years At just 329 pages the newly-released ‘X-Files’, detailing previously secret unexplained UFO sightings in Denmark, might not at first glance seem to offer much in the way of sustenance for the legions of hopeful stargazers out there. But detailed within the slender volume are over 200 unsolved UFO sightings which provide plenty of food for thought for the old question: are we alone? RUSSIA 21 July, 2009 The Russian Navy has declassified its records of encounters with unidentified objects technologically surpassing anything humanity ever built, reports Svobodnaya Pressa news website The records dating back to Soviet times were compiled by a special Navy group collecting reports of unexplained incidents delivered by submarines and military ships. The group was headed by deputy Navy commander Admiral Nikolay Smirnov, and the documents reveal numerous cases of possible UFO encounters,SPAIN Spain Declassifies 83 Military UFO Files Earlier this month Spain became the first nation in Europe to open its classified UFO files to researchers According to the newspaper Voz de Galicia, "The truth is out there, in Madrid's General Air Force Library. It was learned yesterday that the Spanish Air Force has completed declassifying these official documents, which began in 1990. The shelves of the Madrid library hold the 83 'X-Files' previously classified as Top Secret. Twenty percent of these cases lack any logical explanation SWEDEN UFO Sweden is releasing thousands of UFO files beginning May 9-10, 2009, according to a news story in Swedish online news magazine Essessen A 250 square meter archive will open its doors to the public during the weekend of May 9-10 2009. It is located in Norrköping and contains approx. 18000 files from Sweden and several thousand documents related to Denmark, Norway and the US FRANCE The French UFO Files and the Future of UFO Disclosure It appears that we are reaching a pivotal time in the human recognition of extraterrestrial entities. For the first time in history, a national government is publicly releasing 50 years of UFO documents, cases, and reports. It will be interesting to see what effects this has on the world’s population. The French Government is the first establishment to release all their UFO data to the public. Other countries, including the US, provides documents when requested (following the Freedom of Information Act), but does not currently openly publish all the related documents for the public URUGUAY The Uruguayan Air Force (FAU) high command has declassified its files and allowed EL PAIS (The National Newspaper) to access its UFO records and eyewitness accounts. While the Air Force commission that studies these cases has been operating for only a few decades, the UFO phenomenon in Uruguay began in 1947, and continues a rich history of seeing UFOs, according to Col. Ariel Sanchez, an Air Force officer with 33 years of active service and who presides over the UFO commission As you can see their are thousands of testimony reports of ufos from our own miltary and stored in goverment files. The USA files are genreally blanked out after a freedom of info req funny that? The UK also adopts the similar strategy as there master. Jonny, that isn't what I was saying. Ufologists seem to take as a matter of dogma that the US government, at least, has access to some alien technology. There is talk of alien weapons, reverse engineering alien spacecraft, etc. ... but there's no 'missing link', there's not one bit of modern military technology that can't be traced through terrestrial design.
According to Roswell believers, for example, the US has been in possession of alien technology, which must still be far in advance of anything we have today, for more than 70 years, but in that time they've managed to do nothing with it. Not a single known bit of military hardware can be traced to inspiration from extraterrestrial equipment.
Doesn't that seem strange?
Dear monos, a secret truth.

Brewster - All theese files they definetly arent god shining his torch from the sky. Try to think logical. Until you realise that what you propose these unidentified objects are is as preposterous as the theory of God shining his flashlight then you aren't thinking logically. I really can't put it any other way. Your theory is as ridiculous as anything else I could come up with. They simply aren't alien piloted craft, no matter how much you want them to be, no matter how many YouTube videos you post and no matter how special it makes you feel to not be part of the herd. You've already had one of your UFO incidents shown to be a hoax and numerous others have been explained. There maybe aren't reasonable explanations for every UFO incident that has ever been, but that really doesn't justify saying it's alien life visiting earth any more than saying it's Nessie flying around and lighting her farts.

Jonny, just because governments are declassifying "UFO sightings" that doesnt mean that aliens are visting and langing etc etc.
It means that Unidentified Flying Object reports are coming to light. A UFO report can contain ANYTHING from a well thrown frisbee, reflected/refracted light, all the usual balloons and planes which are where they shouldn't be and hence, unidentified.
It doesn't mean that 100's of pages of alien conspiracies are coming to light.
