We`re taking up archery as a new hobby and wondered if there were any archer`s on here?
We have a bit of the kit for 100 notes we have x2 samick bows 3 strings 8 easton jazz arrows, 1 set of sights ,button, arm straps and a frame with a straw target with 10 new target sheets and a bag for the bow smile

will have a first go with them today......

Dave

Try to let go of the string, not the wood bit. And don't forget to waggle your fingers at the Frenchies.

My brother-in-law's Dad is an archery nut. He makes his own arrows too. If you ever get him talking on the subject, he'll go on for hours!

Best advice I can give is not to stand around with an apple on your head whilst in the company of Archers.

Stand behind the archer. You know it makes sense.

Do it even if you haven't got a bow wink

That Jeffery turned out to be a bit of a rum 'un.

I was a member of black country archers for a while. Indeed my dad was national champion in the crossbow section of field archery for a good few years running (unfortunately its not a sport with prize money).
Bit hard to give tips though without actualy showing. All i would say is its more about smooth technique and steadyness rather than just pulling the string back as far as you possibly can ( if its a high poundage bow and you pull back for as much power as you can muster then you end up with more shakey arms when trying to aim).
Also your hand should always be pulling back to the side of your cheek. Most common technique is two fingers under the arrow and one above when drawing, but i found three under and none above the best for me.
