Hey all, Just thought i'd pop on here having stayed away for quite a while. The longer i stay away the less tempted i am to get a Coupe again!! Anyway, i recently acquired an Alfa Romeo GT 1.9JTD. This is my second GT diesel having had one ages ago which i sold to Brewster on here before acquiring my 3rd Coupe. I have been after one for a while since selling my Sprinty Coupe to Punto16vt on here. I had a few 156's in between to get me around and to work and back. The GT i have came up at an amazing price, had all the jobs done (belts, pulleys, tyres, brakes, waterpump, crank pulley, battery etc etc within the last 2k miles) All the history was there to back it up and the car was immaculate. The drive is fantastic, sticks to the road, the engine is great, it seems really improved over the same lump in the 156? Even the sound from the diesel, inside the cabin has a FIAT 4 POT petrol growl between 4 and 4.5k revs. Inside is very cosy, the black leather seats are amazing and supportive, there is room in the back, despite it looking very snug, and the boot is massive. The frameless doors are a great touch, something the Coupe should have had IMO. It really does make me wonder why there aren't any more on the road. Best of all i can happily get 700 miles to a tank with 57-58 litres to fill it to the brim! It has made me wonder recently if i could ever go back to petrol as a daily car. As much as i miss the sound, especially the 5 pot turbo on the Coupe, i can't justify twice the running costs. Mabye if fuel prices come down by half, i'd consider it!! Overall i am very pleased with the car, still the closest thing to a Coupe with a diesel lump! Few pictures below... Hopefully i will stick around on here a bit longer and get along to a few meets

That would be great, be nice to see the Coop again! We will have to both get along to a meet at some point, or just make our own!
I'm intending on getting the car remapped by Flea, as i hear he can do the 1.9 JTDm? Depending on when that happens i could be around, although Bristol is probably out of your way.

I've had it in mind to take the Punto 16VT to Flea for a remap, for quite a while, when I've got it into the right state. But when that'll be is a very 'moveable feast' right now. I've a 'dink' stage 1 chipset in transit for it, in the meantime.

Hey Dan as you might know ive got the 156 JTDM Ti with the same 150bhp and I think it runs same suspension... Anyways my brother has just purchased a Gt JTDM with the blackline 18" alloys. The car is similar to the 156 but the seats are more bucketed which stunned me as I have the Ti seats yet the Gt seats are the seating position is also better and the steering feels tighter. Although mine has done 125k and his just 66k also he is running a koni suspension kit and K&N panel filter and wow does it handle. The car just feels more solid as a result of less glass space from thick pillars and high doors, than the 156 and If honest the GT has now got to score high on my wish list, especially as it has a proper boot hatch and boot space. My 156 has a tuning box est 175bhp and it will mid range keep with much more powerful cars. My brothers blatantly has a remap as is as quick as mine but actually is much smoother with its delivery and with its low slung sitting position makes the experience far more sporty. The remap is worth its weight in Gold IMO and makes the engine far more willing and fun as it holds power to the red line. Normal driving he is getting 45+ but still early days My feeling of his Gt was that It would suit me as a coupe replacement may have to flog the old girl as im smitten with the GT ps. bang on, as the gt feels like a modern Fiat coupe, this was also my feeling, how it is similar in some of the feel and how you feel about the car. Ps love your Gt as in same colour as my 156 and on your Gt it looks stunning!!!

It's Lipari Grey.
I have always found the GT steering tighter. I have had a few 156's to justify this too. The seating position is much much better too. Feels like getting into a van when getting into a 156 now.
I was looking at a Ti 156 20v before i bought the GT. Despite the appeal of the 20v 5 pot, i'm glad i went with the GT. With a remap i've been told they go great anyway, and the GT is just a bit more special than the 156 (unless it was a GTA of cause)

Swap the GTA teledial alloys onto a GT and your sorted. The arches are so big on the GT, i sometimes wonder whether it should have 18" wheels, the 17's almost look too small...
