So the final nail in the coffin of F1 interest on here. Qualifying completed and still no thread.

I can't speak for everyone, but since it's become pretty clear that Vettel is likely to win the title again, I'm far less interested than I might be.

I'll still watch it, but I'm not bothered if I have to make do with highlights.

Roll on next season with the new regulations.

Was just saying the same this afternoon as I suddenly remembered I'd missed qualifying...

^^^ Totally agree, it's become a one fingered cringeworthy version of the Schumacher years.

The whole emphasis on tyres is really irritating. I'd just like to see drivers race each other on the same tyres no strategy just pure and simple fastest driver wins. Will never happen obviously!

Maybe next years EcoF1 will shake things up. I really hope it does, but I have to say the very fact of smaller engines and going v10>v8>v6 is losing my interest.

Eco? Not sure after the fanfare a couple of years ago about reducing F1s carbon footprint, how designing a tyre to need repacement more frequently than necessary meets that goal. What with the manufacturing process, and shipping them around the world rolleyes

Yup agree with that!

The whole switch to 1.6 turbos is supposed to show how F1 can go Eco?

It's like that across the whole forum, maybe it's the heat.

By the way Hamilton is on pole but says he has no chance as the tyres will fall off his car every 20 miles rolleyes .

What is the point?

So ideas which IMO spoil F1 the new qualifying, I much preferred the old 1 hour of hot laps, no fuelling, imploding tyres, DRS..and Vettel. I'm becoming less and less interested every season.

Do people only watch F1 for the front runners, I much prefer it when one of them starts at the back and races their pants off. The tracks, tyres and the odd smash up laugh

So Mercedes seem over their tyre problems and Lewis wins! Vettel being a child because Kimi wouldn't play ball! Looks like the rest of the season could be fun and would love to be at Spa.
Just got sattelite set up so watched RTL & R5L commentary which was pretty good and better than giving Sky £300.

It wasn't a dig Cooperman, I should have thought before coming on the thread, the result is often discussed post race!

I like this season's Hamilton.

He seems more mature, realistic... pessimistic even.

To pull a win like this out of the bag is commendable.

I still think Vettel will stroll to the title, but hopefully there will still be enough races left to give some excitement.

I think the split from Shirtslinger (sp?) may have helped too, she is almost as irritating to watch as Jessie Jay.

Well everyone knows I like Hamilton. Where were you guy's when everyone was knocking me smile

i like Jessie J and nicole Sh, sh, Sh whatever her name is too love love

Great race from Lewis though pity we didn't see too much of him on the hilights. I think that's what's killed some enthusiasm - no live coverage on the Beeb! (It is quieter on here though)

The race was a lot more exciting than I was expecting. Very interesting how long it took Vettel to get past Button - and very satisfying to those of us who like JB and have become disenchanted with Vettel (as Davie expressed in the other thread). McLaren still looked off the leading pace, but they can take some encouragement from this performance. Possibly...

The ease with which Hamilton seemed to manage the tyres surprised me; unfortunately, as Rosberg had a nightmare for other reasons, we couldn't see if Mercedes have made a leap forward or if Hamilton just played a blinder.

I'm not a massive Hamilton fan - his faux gangsta posturing is painful and for all that he keeps saying how great it is to finally have a car that he likes to drive, he'll turn round at the next news conference and say he's never liked the brakes on the Mercedes. I think he has such a monkey on his back about "wasting his talent" that until he wins another championship (and I think he's certainly good enough), he will continue to be a bit of a whinger.

Hats off to him yesterday, though, he drove an awesome race for sure...

Yes, but all the drivers are whingers, some you just hear more than others. Take the Vettel team message about Kimi for a start smile

Remember that Lewis and Nicole are no longer an item (after five years). I've heard somewhere that Nicole is shacked up with Proccy...... crazy

Maybe the finality of the split and the sight of her wearing a used purple jumper has concentrated the Hamilton brain on racing - it was definitely his best race of the year under difficult circumstances.

Have to say I am beginning to think DRS is a waste of time on some tracks and gives an undeserved advantage in some ways. Hamilton was on a mission and only the car blowing up would have stopped him winning. Vettel seemed unable to push as he usually does so maybe these new tyres have evened things a bit? At least it looks like we will have some competition / racing for second half of the season. Had to laugh at Alonso's birthday wish for someone else's car!

Much like Adolf Galland when Goering asked him what he needed to win the Battle of Britain - "I should like an outfit of Spitfires for my squadron"

I must admit I've never liked Lewis but after meeting him at Goodwood I've changed my thoughts about him. He is a decent bloke who spent time too have a chat with myself and my lad.

I've always had a theory that DRS is only really effective at colder ambient temps, at hot tracks where the air is less dense there seems to be less of a kick!?

Who knows!?
