So there I was on my lunch break the other day browsing like you do, when for no reason other than boredom put my 20vt registration number into Google. (It came with an old suffix privet plate on it).
The very first hit shown was an eBay UK user ID with my exact registration!
So thinking there must be more to this than coincidence logged on to eBay (the google link would not work) and did a user search, and shore enough there He was.
A quick message to user: Hello, Sorry to bother you. I have noticed your eBay ID.
So this is going to sound a bit odd….. But Have you owned or know of, a blue Fiat coupe 20v Turbo? Please ignore my ramblings if you have no idea what I am talking about.
Sent it off not expecting to get a reply.
Two minutes later!!! A reply came through saying; yep sure did sold it 10 years ago. Why do you ask?.......
What are the chances of that!
And so followed a very interesting exchange where I found out a good bit about my car that the history I have makes no mention of.
Firstly ‘it’ has a name!? ‘She ‘ is called Ferina (as in Pininferina) and that the registration happened to be his initials.
More interestingly he had had it chipped at Turbo Technics (I knew the ECU had been tampered with but not by who) along with having it dyno’d that showed 245bhp. That along with an exhaust manifold replacement (due to cracking) and an extra cam belt change all of which I have no record of.
He had owned it from 2000 till late 2004 (two others have owned it since before me) and had fond memories of it, also was able to give me some details of the guy he bought it off and who he sold it to. Also that a mate of his at the time had WRX sti and ‘she‘ would leave it standing.
Also gave him first dibs on the plate if I ever sell it.
It's amazing what you can find out in your lunch break!
