...in Surrey this morning.

SO TURN YOUR BLOODY FOG LIGHTS ON banghead

Journey to work and visbility down to 2 meters in places on the M25 and yet only a handful of cars with fog lights on. Then there were the majority with no lights on at all. many of those in 12 and 62 plates. Doubtless these have auto headlights which don't function in fog.

Then there are the complete charlies thinking it's OK to use daytime running lights only, not realising that these do not work on the rear of the car.

Completely agree, although my route wasn't as bad from Guildford to Old Woking (via Newlands corner and Clandon) the amount of cars that I counted without lights on was a lot. I was even sat behind a 13 plate Merc SLK without it's lights on and didn't even twig when I kept flashing my lights at them.

On the other hand, I was behind a Vauxhall people carrier who had front and rear fogs on, with the rear wiper going constantly and it wasn't that foggy to have the lights on. As for the wiper comment, if she had actually used her rear view mirror she might have noticed it on, but for the 3 - 4 miles I followed her, she didn't check her mirror once.

Hemel to Cambridge: average visibility 50-100m, percentage of cars with foglights ~25%. Percentage of cars with sidelights or no lights, ~25%.

People don't seem to realise that when it's *light* and foggy, you need more lights to be visible against the haze.

And yet when the weather is fine, every other prat drives around with foglights on...

How annoying will it be when the fog has gone and for the next 3 days half the world drives around with blinding foglights firmly on?

Same here. I have to drive down over/down blue bell hill which is always foggy it seems so today the visibility was awful and yet still plenty of cars with no lights on at all!!!

I agree with bockers thought that a lot of it is down to people with automatic lights. My lights didn't come on this morning as clearly the sensors think it is light enough, but it shouldn't take much thought to turn them to manual and put the fog lights on too!!!

I drove home from Manchester last night at 40mph on the majority of the M53 and M56. Visibility was down to about 20 metres ahead. Some d*ckheads were whizzing past at double that speed. If there was a pile-up ahead they'd be in serious trouble.
Main beam are scary in fog, they just don't help!

Coopless!

Stupidly thick (thats the technical term) fog here in Oxfordshire. On the drive into work an artic lorry had gone straight over a big roundabout and ended up in the middle of it.

And then a school bus (in white) pulled out infront of me on the ring road. Good job I was going slowly otherwise I'd have ploughed straight into the back of it.

Lots of numpties doing 80mph+ on the A47 this morning (renowned locally for being basically a long car park between 7am - 9am) despite the thick patchy fog.

The mind boggles.

Another day of fog here and still a bunch of numpties driving without any form of lights on. I got bored of flashing people this morning, but at least the mini in front of me was on the same mission, he just kept sticking his hand out the window and pointing at them.

Almost as annoying as being directly infront of a standard range rover with it's lights on. crazy

Agreed. When we used to have the Spitfire, normal car headlights from behind were at the height to silhouette your head against the windscreen. I dread to think what it would be like with HIDs.

Awful - I was in the XJS again last week and the ride height makes most modern headlights blinding. It's bad enough in the Coupe, all cars should have candles on them (like the standard coupe ones)!
