In the interests of creating a few discussion threads to
inject some life into the forum Firstly, I'll make my own position clear - when Daytime Running Lights first came out, I thought they were quite good, simply because they were a bit different. I especially like some of the really slim LED versions.
However, now they have fallen into the realms of chav-dom with cheap Chinese kits, splattered randomly across the front ends of the usual council-estate fodder, I've decided I rather detest them.
However, there's another issue that is becoming prevalent as the dark evenings close in - people driving at dusk, or even dark, with what they *think* are their lights on, but in truth, they simply have some Christmas tree adornment on the front of their car, with the rear in complete darkness.
I spent ten miles on the M42 last night, furiously flashing my headlights at a woman in a Corsa with no rear lights on. I'd overtaken her to see if she had any front lights on (I'm always amazed at the number of people that drive around with no lights at all) - she completely ignored mine and many other driver's various attempts to attract her attention.
IMHO, DRLs should be banned, as they create more of a danger than they solve.
Alternatively, the owner should RTFM and work out what the "D" stands for.....
