^ I agree with your analysis..I have respect for May ..I have an acquaintance who works in the home office in quite a high position who thinks she is very impressive and has great intelligence... I think Gove is a bit to impractical and not of leadership quality

It's like being asked to pick your favourite terminal illness. I don't envy her though, the term poisoned chalice has never been more appropriate. Agree I think it would be worse than volunteering for the England managers job or even Manchester United managers job!

I'm just glad Boris isn't standing. I like him, but didn't want him as PM. As for Theresa, well I don't think there's room for two of us to run things around here Theresa 'might' @ali I wouldn't put it past anyone to form conspiracies On Gove's track record though, notwithstanding some of his extremely unpopular decisions, I think he is someone who genuinely believes in them and could well have discovered Boris letting down his guard at the 11th hour. Although I initially thought Gove would make a committed leader but I can see May being a middle-of the-road steady hand. I don't believe any of the media spin about treachery. I wish they would stop stirring - but that would mean, eventually, severe press censure. "sigh" ....caught between a rock and a hard place" Interesting developments in Austria just now.... Presidential election

Gove as prime minister would be an unmitigated disaster both for the Tories and the country.
He is MP for our next-door constituency where anything wearing a blue ribbon is guaranteed a win, but has done nothing to justify their faith in him.
He was a disaster in education, is proving the same for justice.
He will never prove competent as long as he has a hole in his arse, and NHS waiting lists at local Frimley Park Hospital are such that it could never be sewn up this side of a general election.

Well I live in that next door constituency of Surrey Heath, so Gove is my MP And yes it's true that it's a safe Tory seat, but it was interesting to see in the referendum that voting almost exactly matched the national result, I don't think he was campaigning locally at all. His stint in education has put plenty of people off. I do hope he doesn't win this vote, Theresa May seems a much more sensible and steady person to trust with the unenviable task of negotiating our exit from the EU.

Other than that, he's not too bad? May is the only choice really.

Jim I see where your going with this, but isn't that the sort of leader we need to get through the brexit interim period? Good point. Although, on reflection, I'm not convinced that a megalomaniac dictator is my first choice to get me through anything.

What seems odd is that Jeremy Corbyn is currently being put through the wringer for not being forthright enough about staying in the EU - giving the EU 7 out of ten (which seems fair) - but Theresa May who was always going to be in the running once Cameron stepped down, came out on the Remain side but did absolute Jack to save it, and then gets zero opprobrium. What's all that about?

Its unbelievable that Liam Fox thinks everyone has forgotten about his good friend Adam Werrity. Its not so much the expenses angle, more the complete denial of his sexuality - just come out Liam, its ok.
Theresa May is a bit Skynet.
