Lots of noise about these being toy town like, but they are lovely. Feel a bit odd but so much nicer than the paper equivalent.

Always thought the Australian notes were a very good idea back in 1997. Don't know why its taken us so long to do the same.

I quite like them. Time will tell how they look after a few years of use.

I haven't seen them yet, do they feel like the Irish plastic fivers of old?

Still haven't seen one. Heard John Humphries trying to eat one on Radio Four, though.

Am I missing something? Seen online that this is the "First Fully Polymer Banknote to enter circulation in Great Britain".

But.... Clydesdale Bank released the "First Fully Polymer Banknote to enter circulation in Great Britain" back in March 2015. I mean, I have 2 of em at home! Both in nice little presentation packs. smile

Maybe it's because a Scottish note isn't really in circulation in Great Britain - I'm not even sure that they are officially "legal tender" in the rest of the UK though shops will take them (but don't, as I understand it, have to accept them).

But Scotland's still part of Great Britain and Clydesdale Bank issue legal notes. so surely (even if it was only legal tender in Scotland) it would still be the first fully polymor note in circulation in Great Britain?

Weird!

Quite so.....you could see it's the sort of thing which might add fuel to the fire of nationalism if the separatists had the impression their hard-earned wasn't taken seriously.

Along with some school qualifications from north of the border, which certainly happened to our daughter 15 years ago.....
