Well guys I hate to say it but I waved good buy to my coupe today after 14 yrs of ownership

Got messed about big time by some tw&t on eBay ( my fault for putting it on there) but it eventually went to a nice mature gentleman who is only about 30 miles away

He never came to see it he just went by the photos and descriptions and when I saw his face today as I pulled the cover off it he he laid eyes on it for the first time I knew he was hooked ......

I wish him and the coupe all the best and hopefully he will join this forum

Oh and the doughnut that messed me about on eBay .......well I have his phone number and sooner or later he will have his phone turned back on so .....bionicnaziking666 ...... I will be having some fun with you In the not to distant future

Why oh why does eBay allow people on there with such stupid names .....oh and his address was false too ...which is how I got out of the deal when he won

I would like to thank everyone for you priceless help and knowledge over the yrs and especially Joe (country cruising) for his endless supply of parts

Oh and can I add ....so for I have not found another forum as good as this one

Cheers all

Good to read this one has been passed on to a new passionate owner, it'll secure the cars future and hopefully bring someone new into the fold.

All the best wink

Good luck with the mini and thanks for your kind comments about this little oasis - there's no doubt you've had an age of fun (and maybe lost some hair) during your long tenure.

Maybe you will sneak back, who knows laugh

I was a 15 year owner and forum "user"; huge wrench to see the car go but I can confirm that I still return to the forum everyday to bask in the afterglow smile

I concur. Quite fancy a JCW gen 1 for the stables. Had a coopers r56 and was amazed how much it felt like my old Austin mini on turn in. Quite tunable aswell.

I recall reading that BMW over-engineered the suspension on the Mk1 car and the gen 2 was specifically designed to reduce the cost of manufacture = Gen 1 the car to have smile

The gen 1 is supercharged mine is the turbo which "apparently " is a better set up ......but I've not driven the gen 1 so I can't comment

All I can say is that the car is like a motorbike with four wheels.....it is breathtaking to drive , incredibly quick and it sticks to the road

From what I can make out from the forums they are have various issues
Mine suffers from premature timing chain tensioner failure which leads to the chain smashing the guides .........I will leave the rest up to your imagination.......but luckily mine was done on a recall at 40,000 miles

The exhaust note is great ......it's really poppy on The overrun

But best of all it's so small it's a piece of @@@@ to clean

Will stick a picture up

I have the Supercharged gen 1. It really is a nice motor to drive, love the whine.
