It seems MOT stations are very busy near me at the moment. I left it a bit late after forgetting to put a reminder in my phone and I was consistently being advised of having to wait nearly a week. Managed to find one with a cancellation and car passed ok with no issues.
I wondered if there is a rush to have cars tested before some rumoured changes are due in April?
The MOT station say they have not had any official word on changes as yet from the powers that be. No mention made of my HID lights as fitted smile

The changes take effect from May, the tester commented on my HIDs recently.

Heh... mine was sneaked through a couple of weeks before the show laugh

But I changed the lights back before winter; the HIDs had faded to insensibility.

I'm currently in the MOT centre for test and tyres. What possessed me to remove the locking wheel nuts from my boot last week?

Doh... I didn't think anyone still used locking wheel nuts. I haven't bothered for years and years.

Funnily enough, the tester came through where I was waiting and asked why I wasn't getting new tyres on. The receptionist called over and explained that I was going to go home after the test to bring my locking wheel nuts. He said that seemed odd when the car didn't have any on. I have a funny feeling that they may have been taken off by Roger a few years ago when I'd forgotten them then.

When I was sitting in the waiting room, I watched as my coop was driven into the testing area. The manager came running out, grabbed a few of the younger mechanics - who hadn't seen a ccop before - and gave them a running tour of it. It was lovely overhearing a few snippets "goes like stink," "one of the best cars of the 90s," Lovely looking machine," "Sounds great doesn't she," "I remember being destroyed from the lights when I was in my tuned up Golf a few years ago."

Then the tester came out and joined in "I loved these, always wanted one." He then passed it - not even a single advisory. I think this was down to his appreciation of the car above anything else; even the chip on the windscreen which has been an advisory for the last ten years wasn't noted.
