There seems to be some mixed feelings on this....what I want to know is, other than an extra gear, what is the difference with the other 5, compared to a regular 5 speed box. Are they like for like, or have all the ratio's been spread out a bit more over the 6 gears. 20VT+ 305bhp 284lb/ft

Anonymous Unregistered A	Well my 6-speed Plus is getting close to 520 miles on a tank now. And far nicer to drive. People say there slower, yet mine does a 14.5 qtr mile at santa pod, shame some of the 5-speeders in standard form couldnt match it. No speed difference. Those with 5 speed are just hella jelous.

I can get to about 250 on 1/2 a tank, and then it just nosedives rapidly.... best is 310 from a full tank, but TBH, whilst I don't boot it everywhere, I stick to about 80 on Motorways if I am looking to conserve the fuel.. 20VT+ 305bhp 284lb/ft

Anonymous Unregistered A	Nope to and from work and odd tooutles around. About 100 miles on the motorway to get to that, otherwise i do 480. It does drink if i kill it, had to do 25 miles in 20 mins on A and B-roads in an emergency once and it took half a tank. Made it on time though. Last edited by carlt; 07/01/2007 00:14.

Anonymous Unregistered A	I had a 5 speed NA before, and now have a six speed LE. I don't tear arse around, so can't comment on the speed difference between the two, but I get a hell of a lot more miles from a tank with the six speed when doing motorway milage to Glasgow and back than I did in the 5 speed. It could be down to the NA/Turbo difference, but I'd have thought a turbo would use more? Anyway, I'm convinced, 6 speed all the way

Anonymous Unregistered A	I've never had a 5 speeder, but what I can say from the 6 speed is that's nice to be able to cruise on the motorway (in top gear) without it being on boost all the time - obviously if you want that, change down - or speed up

Anonymous Unregistered A	Er at those sort of powers anything becomes weaker. He can throw belts with power. Doesnt mean the 6-speed is a weak box, ive never seen a blown one. Nyssa uses a 6 speed with new internals i believe.

You carnt say there waek because the odd one has blown at big power.

I don't think the 6 speed box likes cruising at 3 figure speeds for long periods of time. Something to do with one of the bearings not getting an especially good fead of oil and them overheating? Probably not too much of a problem in this country unless you don't want to keep your license

From the people that I've spoken too (cough) it's not an issue, although it depends on what you term as a long period of time. Certainly an hour or two is no issue, by all accounts, but the germans have propoer roads and 3+ hours might throw up an issue, but then again it might with a lot of gearboxes.
