Anyone planning to make the trip across the Channel for this?

Not sure which site we'll be in (friend is organising), but we'll be travelling down in convoy of Coupe (hopefully), F355 Spider, Tuscan, T350 and an old Alfa 33 Cloverleaf. The Coupe could possibly be the most reliable car.... \:D

It's on 14-15th June.

If you travelling Friday returning Monday you can get a cheap return car ferry (~£60), using this code: EPRJAN

https://www.seafrance.com/booking/setupP...romoCode=EPRJAN

Bring on the good weather!

We're going. Coupe, 2 x 911, TVR of some description, Vantage. Chunnel, lunch in Rouen and then Le mans for Friday evening. We're staying a few miles south of the track.

Last year we had enough rain for 10 years so it must be better this year. (Coz I say so \:\) )

For the last couple of years I've been saying "next year" and think it'll be the same this year.

Steve at Alternative Autos advised against camping if you're in a nice motor, said it's got well chavvy in the last couple of years.

I did enjoy the experience but I don't think I would ever do it again.

Unlike Craig I did see one fellow in a very expensive car doing donuts in the camping area. He damaged quite a few cars but got his wallet out and offered to pay for all the damage he caused. Not exactly a chav (I hate that term) just some beered up rich boy.

I do now what you mean about it being dumbed down though \:\(

sorry to say bob but i think that would brand the guy a chav in my book! its not a status thing. the guy has no regard for other peoples cars, or people for that matter.
this is exactly what im talking about. a bit of fun and some burouts are one thing. but he could have hit a person not a car! sounds like an idiot. shame as ive only been twice. i dont think ill ever see it again. total cup in august at spa looks like my kind of thing!

Not going to the regular race this year for the first time in a few years, but will be going to the Classic in July - hopefully should be a nicer crowd for that one. Will probably be back for June in 2009 though as it already feels wrong to not be going, particularly when I got my ticket allocation through from ACO and didn't take it up.

Read a few reports like those views expressed above and that, coupled with my friend's insistence that we use the World's Most Expensive Campsite (TM) means I'm not now going.

Well, it looks like I could be attending this for the first time this year. It falls on the weekend of my birthday so my best mates and I are planning this instead of Goodwood this year. I too have heard similar reports to those above, but it something I want to experience once in my life and this year is as good as any what with all of my group growing up/getting married/becoming parents.

Any recommendations for camp sites, other things to bear in mind, etc would be appreciated.

Well not going this year been for the last 4 years, was looking forward to it - even after the rain fest last year (we had high ground). But a number of plans mean cant make it. 2009 should be a goer though

Whooah, I went to Le Mans for the first time back in 2006, that crash happend about 50 metres from where we were camped on Houx Annex, didnt see the crash happen as we were just walking back from the track, lots of commotion I remember.

We shouldnt have been on Houx Annex or the rave site as I like to call it, we should have been in the technopark, both had green stickers so was easy mistake to make, I was told the technopark would be a quieter option and to avoid Houx Annex! but once we were on and the tent was up, we were reluctant to move, site's fill up so quick.

Well all I can say is if you decide to go to le Mans, dont go with a women who is 7 months pregnant and a 1 year old and when tempretures are nearly in the 100s!!
Ive never been allowed to forget it, my son didnt sleep from the thursday evening till we got home on Tuesday the following week, he's still traumertised with the sound of fireworks!! I swear to god it was just a 250,000 strong stag party, (which would have been fantastic without the wife!!).

Anyway, didnt see that much bother till the race was actually over, when people were leaving the frenchys were all over in there white vans theiving stuff and picking up anything left behind.

on the sunday night, the lads that were camped next to us, who had been fine all weekend, decided to set fire to there tents and were throughing aerosols and that on the fire, along with firesworks, our tent actually started to burn so I quickly had to bundle everything into the car, the place just didnt seem safe, they didnt even give a [censored] my wife was heavily pregnant and my son was crying his eyes out as he didnt want to leave. I was gutted and it left a real bad taste in my mouth.

We ended up trying to drive back to Calais in the dark, got lost several time's and had to pay a small fortune (over 100 squids) in bloody road tolls.

But after watching the race at home last year, i'd go back tomorrow!

Got my ticket through today so finally making the trip after saying I am going to go for the last 20 years or so. \:D

Travelling in convey with about 10 other cars including a Masarati 4200, Lamborgini Countach, New Mustang, Nissan 350Z, Vauxhall VXR220, a Marcos and a 997 Carrera S. Looks like the poor coupe could be in for a hard time \:o

Going on the Thursday via the Chunnel, staying in the Beausejour campsite for what will be my first time camping as well, hope it stays dry \:\(

Can't wait now, should be fun.

Gary

Gary

I'm in the same position. My poor coupe is following two 911 Carreras, a race prepared TVR Griffith 500, a baby Aston and something that has been described as big engined and British (and possibly not bought the last time I spoke to them \:D ).

Chunnel on Friday morning. But we're not camping, thank God!

It rained for 5 years last year so it will be dry this time around (sue me later).

If you see a Sprinty around the place, give me a wave.
