Hi people, i wondered if any of you 16v turbo owners have fitted a SS manifold from: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/FCCK2000 and how good they are?

Paul, from fcck2000, tells me that he's prototyping a 20vt manifold, which should be available towards the end of September and I was thinking of investing.

Will definately buy one of your 20vt manifolds as soon as they are ready, hope you didn't mind me asking around?

Are you taking names/deposits at the moment or should I wait until you list - also, have you an idea of price?

My manifold has been welded twice in the last two months so i think it's on its way out, since i'm going to be replacing the exhaust for a ss one i'd also like to sort the manifold at the same time.

I will have the new manifold by the end of the month, I'm fitting it up to a scrapper coupe I have just to make sure it fits. http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/565466.htm

The coupe will then be either sold complete or broken if I cannot sort out the running issues.

As for performance gains.. I can assure you it will be far better than standard, look at the crappy angles the primaries hit the collector on a standard manifold, all primaries are different lengths by miles.. add to this they crack, TBH the standard manifold is a complete load of cast crap.

I'm not going to take deposits untill things are proven, with my design I think I'm going to need to replace the water rail for a new one, this is because I wanted a manifold that performs not just looks good.

Regarding the price, i reckon £370 will be the e bay price, group buy will be much better if numbers are good. maybe nearer £335 but this is to be confirmed once I have all costs in.

T3 is really old hat TBH so i'm not doing these, the later T25, T28 roller bearing turbo's are far better.
The external wastegate option will need to be done by your local engineers. The main issue is when going external other mods need to be done to turbo elbow etc, it makes sense to just add the extra piping where you need it.

Just to be clear though, I take it that this will be a direct replacement for the standard manifold? You said that you will be replacing the water rail, is this a modified WR and if so will this be a requirement? One last question (sorry), i'm running a standard turbo and have no plans to decat (going to run a ss cat), so will the manifold be ok with this or will i have to modify the turbo to 360 degrees? (this last one is probably a silly question as i don't think i will have to, but thought i'd better ask)

The T3 inlet was for the GT30's

External wastegate is a must in my opinion, even on the T2 inlet I would go down the external WG option for my GT28 series if possible. I would wait a little bit longer for this option. Just do both you know you can

I will supply a water rail if required as part of the deal, if it needs the rail I'll make a new stainless steel one.

Your questions about the cat and thrust bearing within the turbo will be no different to if you had standard manifold.

Indeed the GT30 is T3.

Let me first get the tubular manifold done and then possibly look into the external wastegate. I guess a screamer pipe would be simple but the idea of coupling back into the elbow will be more work than I want to do. I would have to supply a new elbow, a new flexi between manifold and elbow and then different sizes of flanges, it all adds up to make it difficult.

Don't worry about the exit of the external wastgate we can choose to run a screamer pipe or run it back into the exhaust. You don't what the wastegate gas going back into the manifold anyway if it was to go back further down the system would be ideal.

let me complete the standard ones first and then we can look into doing the external exit :-)I think I'll have enough stuff to sort out before thinking about the external wastegate.

Out of interest how long (guestimate) does it take to remove the manifold? for a good DIY mechanic.

I can get my turbo and manifold off in a little over an hour

Fancy getting paid £30 per hour for one hour LOL

I bet it takes me more than that trying to undo the fixing nuts to the turbo...

Yes got back without any issues although i had cramp in both hands from gripping the steering wheel tight all the way home LOL
The "A frame" for towing was spot on and highly recommended.
