Ive seen a couple of cheep coupes for sale, one complete 16vt and a 16vt with a snapped cam belt, and was thinking is it worth buying one of them and stripping it for spares.
Has any one done this and said never again or is it worth doing? Ive worked out that if i sold 20 items at £25 each then i would make 50% profit so if i stripped the car right down i could make a decent profit while helping you guys keep yours on the road.
What would be better 16v or 20v turbo or non turbo?
I am mechanicaly minded so stripping it is not a problem and now im not working weekends i have more time on my hands to strip to order on weekends.

to be fair, its a very competitive market, there is already a couple of well known people on here that break coupes, and do parts for very good money

you also have to factor on collection and time, you will need a transporter and something that will do the miles and the abuse

its a all or nothing if you plan to make any money from it. people need a fast reliable service they can trust. if i need a tank strap, i need to know its going to be out the next day.

finally lots of people have a strong loyalty to the people they already use (me included). don't expect this to be a easy thing to get over regardless of the price you offer parts at

I dont think it's worth breaking a standard coupe, doesnt seem like there is a big demand or shortage for parts at the moment.

If you could find a cheap one with lots of mods, returning it to standard and selling all the aftermarket parts and then the whole car as standard could be very profitable.

The most sought after parts are the ones that are broken on that car.

It has also got to a stage where there are more cars that have been broken than there are left on the road, so supply has overtaken demand for a lot of parts.

The engines the big earner, if thats dead, thats 50% of any profit gone. I'm breaking one at the moment, most of the stuff that has sold was the aftermarket stuff, although I have so far it's been a good exercise for me, I've made more than I'd ever have got for the car complete and have kept some of the best generic bits for my new coop.

I wouldn't do it unless I had to though, I doubt there is much profit in it unless you fins one with a really good engine and lots of performance parts in good enough shape to sell.
