I Have planned to visit flea for a little tweaking next week, but being the big kid i am just couldn't wait to get the car back on the rollers to see what difference the exhaust has made..... (and throttle position sensor ) Went back to the dyno i had my first run on approx a year ago where i made 260bhp! Then i was running 440 injectors with the standard 2.5bar FPR and run turned out to bee quite lean (as you can see on the graph, Blue run)! Also still had standard exhaust! Now running 630 injectors with 3bar FPR, and know have larger 2.75" turbo elbow that tapers down to a full 2.5" powerflow exhaust system! Programme is exactly the same as first run!! http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q27/nicdav1/DynoFiatCoupe_P4501.jpgBest run was 305.36 bhp, 288.78 ft lb torque which i'm quite happy with!! Think there may be a little more to come hopefully once Flea gets hold of it, as hoping to turn boost up a little and also I'm Off the scale RICH until 4800 revs!! So at 5k revs i've gained around 45bhp!! What do we reckon?? As i don't really understand the whole fuelling side of things?? Nick

jtm; T34 cosworth turbo!!! 1.2 bar Vas; that is still the original one you did for 440 injectors/3.8 bar fpr... Tried to contact you loads since fitting 630 injectors as you said you'd do me another programme?? Car is running mega rich due to the old programme, think there is more to come, but how much is the question?? Eldinho; my mistake.... exhaust is BLUEFLAME!! Nick

I'm slooowly back in track after almost 6months of unbelievable work load at the uni. I actually did spend some time last week and sorted a series of problems I had. For the first time since the rebuilt I can really enjoy driving, car is much smoother and quicker. I owe you a revised chip anyway, don't I send me an email with updates and I'll try and get it out to you. Nice result btw, I guess you'll be able to reach 330-340 V.

that will be good V!! What the plan was untill speaking to you today :D, i found a file you sent me by mistake that you said was for 600 injectors, and as i couldn't get hold of you was gonna get Flea to burn that and then tweak it if needed with a little more boost!! Was hoping to run 1.4/1.45 bar boost!
My email is nickjames.davies@btinternet.com, a revised programme would be great mate... how long we talking approx so i can let Flea know as i'll still get him to burn it for me and maybe see if he'd be able to add anything to it (hope you would'nt mind?)
So is my AFR what it should be after 5000 revs??

Nick, np let me check the map I've given you then and the results you got now, compare it to the maps I'm currently using and I'll email Leighton a revised one by the w/e. Only thing I'd ask for is any changes that Leighton does I'd like to compare back with mine. I hope he doesn't mind you now on what fpr? Decat or not? cheers V.

So Exhaust CAN give you nearly 50 bhp !! nice results buddy, NOT just from an exhaust tho is it? the bigger turbo elbow would of helped towards most of the extra bhp due to flowing much more freely and along with ya few little issues you had fixed. Got to say im impressed at your results as i think there is still plenty more to come definatly if your gonna run around 1.4bar with mid elevens AFR you will be sure to see even better results buddy. Nice work. nest step forged!!

Cheers buddy!! I am forged...pistons anyways! My rods should be fine hopefully?? My whole bottom end was lightened and balanced when rebuilt last year, think my rods should be ok for upto around 400bhp!!?? Your prob right also about the elbow making a big difference as it went from being 2" where meeting down pipe, to now being 2.75"!! I hope there is still plenty to come, i'd prob be happy and stick if i reached 350ish!! 330 minimum considering the time and money thats gone into it!! Chuffed at mo tho.. Nick

On my old impreza turbo I fitted a stainless system with a centre de-cat (MY98 impreza has two cats) and an STi silicone intercooler y-pipe instead of the ribbed plastic one and my power went up from 208bhp to 242 bhp

Also forgot to mention; i asked the guy if he'd be interested in doing a rolling road day and he said he would be able to doit for £25 a car (minimum of 10), for an extra £5 each supply us with a sandwich and drinks allday! Thought that to be very reasonable?? Apparently he tells me is rollers are state of the art and that they are supremely accurate, he's gonna say that tho!! Here's his site: http://www.hlmtuning.co.uk/rolling_road.htmlNick

My old Coupe saw a 30bhp gain going from a three inch downpipe with V-band adaptor which tapered down to a 2.25 inch supersprint to a full three inch system with 5-stud adaptor.
More significantly I was making the same power after the change at 0.9 bar of boost compared to 1.3 bar!
It is worth pointing out though that it is going to depend on the whole setup of the car - it will only flow as well as the weakest link (in my case you can also throw headwork into the equation). The big GT series turbos really do benefit from being able to flow freely. I dont think that you need a big pipe on the standard turbo or a hybrid to get the most out of a coupe.

sticking with 1.5 bar map sensor for time being yes, as if fitted would need to leave with flea for a few days, and funds won't stretch to that at mo!! Anyways Vas is doing me a revised programme that he is gonna send to flea who's gonna burn it for me and maybe tweak... 2 heads are better than 1 hey.. yes i am using the injectors you've named! Regarding the 48 ar housing, apparently 325 will be pretty much the limit according to a few sources on here but we will see??!! One question; how come when i was running 260 ish break (blue run) i was making more power and torque up untill 3600 revs, Is it due to less back pressure?? or cos fuelling is wey richer?? Nick

Great news Nick, excellent result, sorry was a bit slow to see this thread
Well it shows also the .48a/r housing is good for 310bhp at least and looking at your fueling surely more to come.
Did you decide to stick with the 1.5bar sensor then?
Did you get those 630cc from spray it.com, the EAV6 or whatever they where? I have a set and might try your chip if I ever get them fitted.
Amyway very cool you have broken 300bhp as was the target with more to come
surely you'd be better of trying the revised version when its done mate (with vas's permission ofcourse!!), as you'd just have same setup pretty much as me now which is very rich indeedy!! it would be interesting to know just how rich i am as it only shows down to afr 10 on the graph, suppose the guy at rollers would have known?? the first time i was on the rollers last year when i swapped from original chip to V's programme, my origal chip was also mega rich with 440 injectors but when swapped to V's programme it was leaned out (alot) and i gained about 7 bhp but more significantly gained 35 n/m torque.... so hopefully should gain atleast this again if not more when set up with the right map this time?? As i've done the injector swap a thousand times now i prob know the fastest way:
* Take intercooler pipe off throttle body * remove coils from back of intake manifold * Remove Any other components at that are behind intake manifold, i.e The box where the fuel pump relay is kept. * Remove 2 socket head screws which bolt the intake manifold to the head. * Using a crow bar, ease the intake manifold back, the four rubber doughnuts on the bottom of the manifold that connect it to the head should pop off as your easing manifold back??! * unbolt the 2 fuel lines from rail * Now fiddly! prob do with someone else holding manifold back as far as possible to allow you to get to the 2 bolts holding fuel rail in place, remove these. * disconnect the electrical connectors from back of each injector * Ease rail out of head, be carefull not to lose any o-rings in the head!!
there you go....
Use a smear of grease when inserting new injectors to rail, then re-assemble!
to check injectors are not leaking bolt rail back in place, fuel lines and reconnect the electrical connectors bac to injectors... Then put ignition on to pressurise to the rail, you'll soon see any leaks!!
The intake manifold will need a firm pull, and it should pop back into place!!
