well there is one in a breakers yard that fits the description (apart from being a runner). Problem is that by the weekend the bonnet will be gone and the clutch is kaput.

The reason is to preserve the 16NA for posterity. You wouldn't want me to drive around in a pug diesel or <gasp> a beemer now, would you?

D'you know, I've often wondered about trying to get a 20vt model that was on it's last legs but drive-able to get it here and then use it to create a fuller, Haynes-style manual.

It'll probably remain a dream now, given certain circumstances, but what a project that would be!

Anyway, good luck with the hunt Mr Barnacle and bear in mind, if one comes up in this area I'm more than happy to go look, poke, prod, take photos, etc......might even do the same to the car!

i smell a concourse restored 16v, and a 20vt daily driver...

and everyone will still be more interested in the 20vt..

nah, endless stories of cracked manifold's, and knackered turbo's get a bit stale after a while...
