scal, the constant abs on/off probably triggered a fault code on the ecu? Plug in a code reader and see if you can delete the fault. I would have thought that if he could get back onto a thawed out road a drove on it for a short while the light will go back out once it's registering 4 correct wheel signals again. Baz

I like coops behavior in snowy wheather, except wheelspins.. It manages to spin even at 80mph when I floor the gas. as for steering last sunday I covered 180 miles with average speeds 70-80mph and it felt ok all the way

Sadly the weather this week has beaten even the mighty Coupe - that's the first time in ten years I haven't been able to get to work because the coupe wouldn't move.
The poor thing just sat there with both front wheels spinning. I was so shocked that I got my wife to press the loud pedal so I could check that the viscodrive hadn't failed. Nope, both wheels doing about 20 rpm....

Well I find the coupe to be ok in the snow (with good tyres on) and the viscodrive did a fine job of getting me off my works car park this afternoon when all around me people were stuck spinning their wheels.
Its not so good because its a bit lower than standard and has one of Nigels braces across the botton - I was flattening all the snow in the middle of the road to my work!
However, got to agree with owl - you really want something light, revvy and with thin tyres
My first car was a 1.3 Fiat Strada and it was amazing in the snow, you could slide it with precision, hit the throttle, spin up the wheels, turn, then come off the throttle - it would just pivot beautifully around the front wheels, totally controllable and loads of fun!
People should seek out empty spaces when it snows - much better to know how your car is going to feel when it starts skidding and learn what to do before you experience is for real on a public road!
Have fun but stay safe everyone!

Well, took me 7 hours to get from Slough to High Wycombe on monday eve, and gota say, the coop didn't miss a beat the whole way. Didn't turn it off once in that time either, oil pressure, heater, tick over, temp were all fine, and despite ticking over for ages I used very little fuel also! I lost count of the amount of cars I saw that didn't make it up some of the icey slopes around HW, but the coop did me proud!

RichB, was that you I saw in HW last week with black, LE (look)? On Monday, I travelled from Wooburn Green to Pinner, and it took me around 5 hours (if clear would have taken 35 mins). Slipping not a problem it was the gridlocked traffic, couldn't get onto the M40 at either J3 or 4. Still I managed to stop off for the gym & shower, and then a mneal and a pint. So at least I had a full evening's entertainment by the time I got home at 10.30 Worse case than mine, was a friend who lives AND works in HW, took him 3.5 hours to get home (usually 15 mins). Traffic jam, 3 hours, left car, walked home in 30mins!!!

maybe it's because the coupe engine is pretty heavy it puts more weight on the front wheels. I remember when i got my first coupe 8 years ago I took the ex to paris on boxing day for the weekend and when we got to the M56 is was snowy, bear in mind this was the most powerful car i'd had and had only had it ten days that turned out to be a fun drive to manchester airport!!! the best car i've had for in the snow was my old scooby!!! 4 wheel drifting twice around a roundabout about 6 years ago!!

I drive my car as a daily driver and now its been snowing like hell for the last weeks.. Im talking about 20cm a day. I do have studless winter tyres which are a definite necessity here. The italians sure havent been thinking of snow when painting the curves of this car. The main problems are the beautiful taillights that fill up with snow once in a while Another issue is the fuel cap that looks like an ice sculpture after some snow All these issues are manageable and the car is a wonder to drive in the winter too. The LSD makes it to behave (only slightly) similar to a RWD allowing to steer/control the car with only the throttle and a slight tap of a steering wheel Thus making it loads more fun than a normal FWD car with only one tyre spinning Regarding the technical part in sub zero conditions, Ive had issues of freezing brakes that make a strange sound, lock the wheels when braking and light up the ABS light. But it was nearly -20 celsius and a lot of snow.

Another small niggle with the design: when I opened the boot (after much effort due to freezing) snow fell through the gap right into the boot, loads of it, nice! And of course, due to the angle of the side windows, snow falls from the roof into the car when the door is open, just like the rain does. Wet seat, wet bum. And I thought my coupe was perfect

I've actually been quite impressed by this. It's good that the wheels tend to spin up at the same time and not individually which makes driving more predictable.
