Having been back 12 days on leave, I thought it was about time I detailed a car - well, you all know I'm addicted to this stuff!

The car receiving the attention was Neil's (Barnacle on the forum) 20VT that had never seen a detail in all it's years, and it showed!

BODYWORK ONLY DETAIL

This car had perhaps the dullest paintwork I had ever come across. It was duller than a winter's day! Duller than the 9 o'clock news, duller than a dull thing....

What, you're thinking yeah right! Well take a look at the pic below and this was AFTER washing and clay baring!!!

See, told you smile

So, intense work was needed, Neil was in a rush to get back from FCSS (place of detail) I needed to take the family out for a buffet chinese, we'd better get started. It should also be noted that the car has had seen paint previously (what coop hasn't!) and the quality of the lacquer used for this was definitely not the best I have come across, so the actual clarity after mopping was the best I could get from the car! Not the best, but better than before. Hence the dullness after the clay bar!

Process for those interested!

Wash
Dry
Clean wheels
Clay and clay lube
Clay wheels
Wipe over after clay
Mop with 3M polish and compounding pad
...continue to mop
...and continue to mop
...again and again!
Wipe down with IPA and wash
Application of Collinite 476S
Application of tyre protection
Windows cleaned with IPA (Inside and out)
Door shuts cleaned
Interior dash given a quick wipe down

Started at 10:15 am, whilst Neil and Joe went for a nice full english! Jeesh! Finished late, gone 5 pm

Here's the money shots then!

Note - All the before pics were taken AFTER washing and clay baring!

Note the bonnet rash from an incident with a Volvo XC90 in the following 2 photo's

Swirling definitely gone click to enlarge

That's about it really, long day, nearly broke my nose mopping a panel (panel was not affixed to car, when the mop sponge grabbed my top and then swung up into my face! Nice! Claret everywhere!

Video - Bye bye Neil smile

I've been waiting an age to see this Coupe be detailed, the paint was so dull, it gave nothing even when wet (no comments please Neil), what a transformation, metallic paint shocked

Great finish, really nice now, even with the Volvo rash to the bonnet sick

Hey, we brought you a bacon buttie back, and you insisted on sharing it with the general populace!

Phil,

that looks amazing, I think you're efforts and the info you have posted on here have inspired quite a few of us to detail our coupes, (Not to your standard though!).

Results speak for themselves.
