Always a pleasure to drive through a good tunnel with the window open listing to the growl of your Coop. So in London i like the Dartford Tunnel (when clear so you can have a good blast) woohoo . Best tunnel was driving through the French Alpes en-route to Les2Alpes, via Grenoble.

Whats yours? thumb

Queensway tunnel in Birmingham - absolute hoot in a lightly-silenced 20VT - last time I had a blast in there, the traffic in front nearly climbed the walls to get out of the way laugh

A1(M) Hatfield tunnel is good, but maybe a bit too wide to get a really loud sound, how long is the Hindhead one going to be?

I used to have one going under the M62 when I lived in huddersfield, it was on my daily commute to work and I used to get to it exactly as the car reached operating temperature. Just before the tunnel it went from a 30 speed limit to a 60. It was only the width of the motorway but every day I went in at 30mph and came out the other side at 60 with a big grin on my face.

Not at the moment it's not; one half closed and a 40mph speed limit in the other half.

I produced a good growl going through the Dartford tunnel the other night, scared a woman in a Ford Focus next to me when I planted the loud pedal.

Bless her, it was great haha

The one in Stoke on main road through the town - the one with the birghtly coloured foot bridges over it, and a 40-50mph speed limit (sadly, but drop it a gear and the same effect is found).
Good for a rumble if traffic is light....

I go through the shortish tunnel on the A27 near Brighton every day to get to work. 70MPH limit so if it is clear of traffic I slow down just beforehand and then boot it ... luverly!

This is the tunnel at Meir on the A50, it's the one we've had a couple of runs through with our Midlands meets. It's a bit short, and yes that speed limit is a pain, but if slow down a little and drop a gear you still get a great sound without breaking any speed limits tongue

I actually do have a video from the Monaro of this tunnel, and the noise is love

And as for other tunnels, I think someone mentioned the A55 in North Wales already - I take it you mean the tunnels near Conwy, those are probably my favourite.

The ones near Manchester Airport are pretty good too, and if you look closely you can still see the paint from Cristiano Ronaldo's Ferrari on the side walls hehe

Yes, I made some noise going through the A50 tunnel last time I was there. Got a few looks from nearby cars.

Lucifer, that post is useless without the video.

I found that out a few weeks back, still at 1am you can drop down a bit and then give it a bit of boot rolleyes

Well it's not all that exciting, because (and I know nobody will believe me) but I actually DID stick to the speed limit laugh

All I wanted to do is see if my phone was capable of recording decent quality sound..and it turns out it was smile

Southwick Tunnel. That's good and pretty long I think. We've also got the Cuilfail tunnel at Lewes (shorter but good noise). Do like Blackwall (when clear) and the Isle of Dogs one too.

yellafella, does the Southwick tunnel have a round-about at each end? Years ago we took our MX-5s down from Maidstone in Kent down to Brighton and ended up going through a good tunnel, but haven't found it since.

No, southwick is on the A27 dual c'way between Brighton & Worthing.

I think you went through the Cuilfail tunnel in Lewes, there's a roundabout at each end there. I think it's on the A26, at Cliffe, Lewes.

Oh I went through those tunnels last year when I picked up my mended coop from Motormech. The sound was pretty awesome but the Police were sitting at the other end waiting to catch speeders, the rotters! Luckily I was within the speed limit................just tongue

Ahh, I sooooo missed my Coop when I went skiing this year! On the 3.5 hour shocked coach transfer there were sooo many great tunnels! cry

That said, with the amount of snow on the roads heading up to Tignes (French Alps) it would have been censored scary if I had been in the coop!!

Not a tunnel, but a narrow hillclimb with high walls each side between the two Highgate cemetries. Its short, actually very short, and its now got some extra road humps which have ruined it a bit, but its on a route that I use a lot so I still love it. Early evening, windows down, vroooom.

The President Kennedy Tunnel, Antwerp. My (original) Coupe sounded good going through it, So did a V70 on full chat at 0300!

As you should all know, kids have to hold their breath when you go through a tunnel (it stops them dying) then you slow down laugh

Whilst the coop is a lovely sounding machine, for me tunnels = my old V8 TVR laugh it cannot be beaten (well not in a car I'm likely to ever own)
