I am polling for, Interest in a top speed event for Fccuk.org users, Also I need assistance from seasoned drivers, Nigel/Flea etc,

I do Santapod every year, To be honest its a crap day now @ RWYB with all the waiting, and track closures,

I want a day of unrestricted top speed shoot outs, My car will never be a TOTB contender, and Im still waiting for the call from Fighting Torque wink

Where can we hire a day at an airfield etc? There are obviosuly fields willing, as per TOTB etc...

The TOTB contenders here surely are in the know where I should be heading,..

Then its a case of hiring the timing gear, Unless thats supplied by the venue,.

I know that theres a few here that never get the opportunity to max their coops, So nows a good time,

I want to book time off work for a decent event, not a RWYB.

I may be way off, And costs could be £££££££££'s, but if the price / venue is right and there could be a day of 10+ of us, then we're in business!

Thanks in advance!

Chrissy

Guys,

This is a very difficult type of event to arrange and also quite costly.

You can enquire at Bruntingthorpe in Leicester for example, but in order to do a top speed event you need to have full access to the airfield runways, this is where the cost starts to grow. You will also need to look at securing Emergency services and insurance for the event which can be available at differing levels (covered by a disclaimer).

Your numbers need to exceed 10 and be nearer to 50 to make it worthwhile.

For example I attend VMax at Brunters regularly and it costs near £200 to attend and participate, this often attracts between 50+ cars, any less and the costs rise.

Jules.

Brunters for a start, will only allow this type of event if it is for jouralism, already called them last year to ask.

The proposed runway is Elvington, we already have a hire cost for a Saturday, they said that liabilty insurance was for us to sort out and they maybe able to help with the marshalling etc..

If you have know of anyone that might be able to help, do let me know, as looking on google for 'liability insurance for track days' doesn't exactly give me back the desired results i want to get an idea of cost and wether it is feasiable or not. There is 20 members already interested in this, i'm sure if the numbers were still low, we would then open it up to the rest of the forum.

Hmmm, Brunters has hosted VMAX for a number of years now with so maybe it's just loyalty as opposed to journalism for that.

If you pop over to PHeads, go to the VMax section and the organiser is CraigW, he will be more than helpful in giving you any advice.

Hope this helps
Jules.
