marco - my car will be, fingers crossed. leave her alone, she's had enough stress @ freddan - thanks for your comments. the oil pressure whenever accelerating was always 3 bar. typically after a hard, long drive it would idle at around 1 to 1.25 bar with the excursion down to 0.5 bar. i'd received assurances from several people who's professional opinions i trust that mapping this car would aid the safe running of it, not actually harm it. hence i did what i did

I think that the design of the block lends itself to a poor oil pressure anyway, as the oil feed out of #5 cyl goes direct to the turbo, so if the turbo starts to go, oil pressure drops & you have a exponential circle of FAIL. When my old lump went the turbo "just" made it, however it could easily have been brown bread. Also, there's no inline filter, which don't help from the block to turbo. I always wanted to fit one, but never could be bothered, I am sure it would have saved many a stock coop

Prior to my last rebuild, my oil pressure was often below 1 bar at hot idle and occasionally, it would get near the 0.5 bar mark on the dial
Just like proccy, it didn't bother me - sure, I'd have preferred a nice steady 2.5 bar, but until the engine needed to come apart, I was happy to leave it as it was.
new big ends and an oil pump has put it back up to 1.5 to 2 bar I do not know if I have an unusual engine but when I ran at the track for 15 minutes I checked the oil pressure afterwards and saw 2.7 bar at idle. I have always use 10W-60 oil.

Due to the massive amount of misfortune your having and in order to keep a damn good looking plus on the road I'm sure I saw it mentioned that someone should organise a donation kitty........i would defintely shove a tenner in and I bet you could get another 50 people willing to do the same.
I know where your coming from when you said you couldn;t accept it, but I think everyone would agree that there are few people that have pumped as much cash as you have into keeping a coupe alive.....so a little bit of help would be well deserved

yeah i was quite touched by the mention of that, but i just couldn't take money off other people for my car. it was me who decided to repair it, i have to live with the consequences for my wallet BUT if it breaks something expensive again it is the end...
