Thanks for the heads up on "TrimDelux" Mario, just 20 mins drive from me smile I need a quote to have my side bolsters done too, so I'd be interested to see what they quote you or others?

I just wanted to ressurect this thread to check to see if anyone who's had their seats refurbed continued to be satisfied in the longer term or whether in fact the results / satisfaction was short-lived.

The before and after pics were amazing and so I'm very tempted to have mine done, but would be interested to know whether the refubishment involving sanding the leather did more harm than good in the longer term. Is anyone who had it done still pleased with the results?

As good as the after compared to the before pics look , you can see the repairs/fillers and the deepests of cracks still there. It looks like the stitching has either worn or been sanded in process.

If you you have not already done this i would try .
Get some leather cleaner fulid like autogleam and give good scrub , wipe off with clean damp cloth .
Then apply good amount of leather cream all over and leave to soak in ,buff and repeat cream a few times.
I expect you may have leather cleaner and cream , and if not you should doesnt cost much.

Or go to horse tack shop and buy some saddle cream for the leather.

I done this to my recaros and was very pleased with results , ok not perfect and deep cracks still there . The leather felt a lot softer and supple.

If you have any worn/faded areas you can get leather dye kit, which works very well from what ive seen.

Liquid leather / gliptone do a dye to cover the grey areas and then you can rejuvenate the leather with the cream. I've done the latter and the leather is definitely more supple after regular "feeding".

Prior to refurbing my seats, i have tried all sorts of things to improve the look of the leather..including Gliptone's dye kit. All of which improves the look..but only to a certain extent.

Refurbing the seats (as shown in this thread) improves the look vastly but will never bring it back to looking brand new. As cheech has mentioned, although not caused by the sanding process of refurbing the leather; the stitching will still look worn from years of arse rubbing on the bolsters laugh

I would say that the refurb lasted me for just over a year before it started showing signs of wear again.

I have since gone for a retrim in nappa leather. I think that was the only option that would keep me happy for the next few years laugh

Now that looks nice, keep them clean creamed Kelv.

Although i do belive one major step was not carried out before hand, on the first refurbish. This would have delt with a lot more of the cracks and such.
Before any filler applied, and could have had better results . Only my opinion as i do not know what the person who done them, did as a whole process.

But all the said opitions will vastly improve on the looks of old worn leather. At different levels of money and correction %.

Hi guys,

This is my first post. After buying a 20VT on Ebay a month ago, and being blown away, I just bought Patch234's red Plus he advertised on Friday evening - which I collect next Saturday, and I plan to fix a small tear in the driver's bolster. Might any of you be able to recommend someone in London or the South-East (I live nr Maidstone, Kent) who's got a good reputation for this sort of work and isn't going to cost a fortune?

many thanks,
Adey.

I spoke to Ben and Joe today very helpful, and going to be doing my drivers seat on my LE in April, he has done quite a few apparently, including gear knobs and steering wheels with the correct perforations, looking at his work looks really good would definitely recommend contacting them new link attached https://trim-deluxe.co.uk/car-interior-seat-repairs/ thanks for this thread
