have you ever seen a 2000 model fiat coupe with recaro seats and push start botton , brembo brakes and all the plus accessories but NOT TURBO ???? i have seen one yesterday and the owner is very sure that the engine has never been changed and it says on the side 16V only ( the guy is telling me it has 1.8 enigne WTF ?????? guys we do have something like that in the coupe world ???

it looks coupe plus turbo from outside and inside , i have a plus and i know how it looks like and this thing is identical except the engine and the speedo meter which reads only 220 KM ???? it has even brembo brakes

please advise

It must be aftermarket mods, the only coupes with Brembo brakes are 20v turbos.....

this i know , but what about the push start ? the recaro leather seats ? the Alloys the pirelli tyres the body kit , the 6 gears????? it cant be guys ????? it has 1.8 engine??? non turbo have you ever heard about that

Well the 1.8 version does exist, Recaro's were an option and the Last Edition version (special 1.8 version) did have the bodykit as well. But it never had the 6spd box, push start button and didn't have de plus alloys either. It certainly didn't have a speedo up to 220km/h (no coupe ever did).

The 1.8 version did not come to the UK, but was available in most other markets.
The engine was also used on the Barchetta and is a 4 cylinder version of the modular engine used in 5 cylinder form on 20 valve variants of the Coupe.

so basicaly this thing that i saw is A HYBRID ?? it looks like somebody changed the engine to 1.8 ? is it really possible to put the 1.8 engine inisde a plus coupe??? its imported from JAPAN and it has japnese letters all over , even the airbag warning is in japanese. the airbox has japanese letter on it as well

On the EPER and in the workshop manual there are references to some unusual late models made for the far east market only.

It is possible this car could have been made but I guess that only someoene in Italy would ever know.

Well it is Italian, so you never know what weird versions Fiat made with the last spare parts they had I've never heard of a version like this though, certainly wasn't a normal production coupe.

I'm also not sure if the 6spd box will fit the 1.8 engine though?

i will meet the guy again next week and will definately take some pics for you to see . the car looks like plus but gutless and has a 1.8 engine and 220 km speedo meter and brembo brakes with ventilated disks also

Like Peter said earlier, the 20v model and the late 1.8 were from the fiat MODULAR range so the gearbox should fit.

This should mean that the 2.4 TD (Also part of the same engine family) should fit too

I had an X reg UK VIS that had the plus Recaro interior from new so I wouldn't rule out it being a factory car.

Why would anyone in their right mind buy this car ?

Because they're in the Middle East and there's not many to choose from?

Following on from Barmybob's point which car would be the better host for a 5 cylinder diesel conversion? An NA 20V or 20VT?
