A couple of questions about the shocks on the Coup #1052024

I'm probably going to replace the shocks on the Coupe soon. And a couple of questions have arisen with this:

1. Are there other makes/marques that share the same shock absorbers as the Coupe, as very few places list front shock absorbers for the Coupe. But I've heard the Alfa 155 is a direct fittment as replacement?

2. As above, it also appears some sites list a similar part number for the Fiat Marea 2.4 TD and Alfa GTV 3.0 v6. Is this just a case of similar numbers, or would these fit?

3. What is the oe manufacturer of the standard shocks? Are these BOGE?

4. As I'm looking for standard softness suspension, are there any other pattern or alternative shocks available? I know of the Monroe ones.

Any help, as always, much appreciated.

Using a better quality shocks won't change the softness of the suspension it will however improve the control of the damping.Giving you a more compliant/controled ride.
I can't see any point in fitting OE shocks or any other budget brands unless your "on a budget".
Top quality brands such as Bilstein or Osrav will work wonders for your coupe when used in conjunction with standard springs.
I've fitted Osravs with standard springs and the improvement in damping is amazing and I think the ride is far better.

Who's mentioned budget brands?

Anyway, at least the osravs is another brand I can look at.

As for softening the ride. Again, I haven't asked for the ride to be softened. Just looking for shocks that don't stiffen up the ride anymore than it is at the moment.

Ok, I'll put it another way;
The two brands of shock absorbers that you mentioned in your post, Boge and Monroe, are what I would consider to be budget brands.
They both work perfectly ok
But
In my opinion, Top quality brands such as Bilstien or Osravs will give you much better compression and rebound damping.
That means they will work well with your standard springs to improve the ride quality, without altering the "softness" of the suspension (that you wish to retain).

Your point 4 made me think that you were under the impression that an uprated shock would automatically mean a stiffer ride.

And your last line made me think you would appreciate any help.

Just shows how wrong I can be. banghead

Is there really any need to be so sniffy on here?

I had specific questions, you came back with opinion which was neither helpful or required. I'm fully aware of how shock absorbers affect the balance of ride and handling.

That was the only reason why I had to re-state my question again.
