OK, so if everyone working as a home trader were ex mechanics and MoT testers only sold excellent cars we could just buy any Fiat Coupe going and it would be splendid? Odd that given the types of faults that occur on Fords, VWs, Vauxhalls etc. Doubly odd given that even new cars can have major faults.

Every phone call I've taken, I've told them I'm a small time trader. What's wrong with that ? Come and have a look, if you don't like it, don't buy SIMPLE ! You won't be disappointed, I can assure you that. Then you can come on here and tell everyone about what a terrible man I am :-) I've got grey hair, going bald, fat, short, what the average trader looks like :-)

Oxfordsteve. Do you want to come and see the car ? If so, call me. Bring your insurance cert with you, and you can test drive it also. The car is sold as seen, with no warranty. You can have a look round the car all day long. If your not interested, what's your problem ?

i don't know if you are aware i have my own van business and most of my friends or people who i work with or buy from/sell to.. are in the trade one way or another from home traders to main dealers so i feel your trying to pick me apart a bit lame when i know so much more than you ever will about it and i am fully and i mean fully aware of all the law around these issues my wife being a solicitor legal advice is free in our house

This whole scenario strikes me as a tad odd. Why wouldnt you sell a Fiat Coupe here if you knew the forum existed? After all, you wont find a bigger catchment for that particular car.

A trader is not allowed to deprive you of your rights under the sale of goods act, no. Claiming sold as seen etc is right out!

So when traders sell their cars as p/ex clearence cars, with no warranty, is that wrong then ? Cus I know alot of them that do. Anyway, I'm off out for the night, and I'm going to enjoy myself. See if you can manage to find one :-)

believe me i know,been burned before.
its covered for 3 months
but you arent a registered trader are you?
your a taxi driver
im a tax paying trader
and have to fix any repair for 3 months from the date of sale.
some people say it is 6 months cover.
i just get a warranty with every sale to cover myself even if they refuse one.

ben like me being registered does make us stand by our sales for 3 months but if you are not a registered trader the law is different and it comes down to definition and interpretation its far too detailed and i have not the time or inclination but as a home seller and not a reistered trader he is not legally accoutable in the same way we are..just like a private seller fit for purpose is still bottom line

talking of bottom lines the bottom line in this issue was whether he legally had to declare himself a trader so you did not get anywhere in the end monza you just moved the goal posts to score cheap points if you want to win an argument try the one you started with

this really is enough of this one for me the guy doing most of the point proving is not in the trade so knows nothing of it and does not know the law on any of it so why he is trying to prove the people whos business it is wrong in some way is beyond me
