I now have a PDA which will be running TomTom Navigator and need to buy a mouse for it. Does it matter what sort I get or does it need to be compatable? Do the number of channels matter? Also whats the best way of powering the mouse? I want to be able to switch the system between cars so I was thinking of siting it on top of the dashboard right near the windscreen on a bit of sticky velcro. Is it a case of then running the cable back to the lighter socket or can I power it from my PDA (which probably also needs to be plugged into lighter socket). I do hate having cables all over the place but equally I want to be able to move it to my directionally challenged wife's car easily a well. Thanks! Al

If you have a bluetooth PDA you can get a bluetooth GPS receiver, this looks like a good buy, I think I'll be getting one to go with my Treo 650, you don't need to have any wires in the car, it has a rechargeable battery

didn't know you could run a mouse with a PDA
I thought that the touch screen & stylus did away with the need for a rodent?
Nigel - This is a GPS receiver / antennae that I understand is nicknamed a mouse. Obvious really, give it a name that is already being used for a common piece of technology....

Nigel, I think by "mouse" rufus means the GPS receiver, I'm not sure it's that easy to use a normal mouse in a car whilst driving (PC type mouse, not a rear 4 legged thing) I would have hoped 10 hours or at least a couple of hours, but it does come with a traditional car charger lead anyway

Ah - mouse isn't actually a mouse. doh! I use a CoPilot bluetooth GPS receiver. Its about 35mm x 60mm x 15mm It has its own internal battery (lasts about eight hours) and has a car charger. The GPS receiver is so sensitive it works from anywhere in the car, including the glovebox. Very easy to set up - just tell the GPS software to find and configure it and it just does it. Plenty on ebay, but make sure you go for SIRF III - its the latest technology - faster fixes, more accuracy. Visit www.pocketgpsworld.com for plenty of info and links. Plus a very cheap (£2 pm) speed camera database that will integrate with TTnavigator plus many others

Nellybear, I'm running TomTom 5 on an MDA Compact (same as an XDA Mini) with a bluetooth GPS unit Works perfectly! Also did the pocket gps world hack for the voices so I get speed camera warnings that actually tell you what kind of camera it is and the speed eg. 'GATSO 40' The TomTom 5 voices hack is well worth doing - takes a bit of time to set up, but worth it see here
