Mikey, you need to get hold of some Tower LED 501's now for your sidelights. They will then match the colour of the HID's

Yeah, I'm planning to do that! I'm sending back some scensoredt halogen H1 bulbs that I got to put in my fogs & high beams. They were advertised as "up to 50% brighter" than standard halogens and "Xenon white" in colour... They were worse than the bulbs I had already!! grr

I'm stupid for even thinking they'd be any better really... rolleyes Anyway, when I get the money back on those I'm going to order some tower LEDs - have you gone for the 4 the 5 or the 9 LED variety?

I have just managed to catch up with your thread Mikey.
I feel bad about you having those problems with the car.

The PAS belt had in fact done far less miles then 17k, it had actually done around 12k because it shredded one after only 5k after the cambelt change, but it didn't tangle the cambelt on that occasion. The belt that lasted 5k was also new.

However since then it had had a replacement PAS pump fitted (same time as the clutch),and everything had been checked and assumed to be ok.
I take it the pistons and valves colliding flat spotted the big ends shells and caused your bottom end problems?
It was a shame because until all that the engine was in really good shape. frown

Hi Simon, I haven't been on the forum much lately, just saw your post. You mustn't worry, the issues I've experienced are not your fault in any way! smile Proccy and MattM on here are both testimony that bad Coupe luck gets a hell of a lot worse than mine! wink

I'm sure the subsequent big end failure was a knock-on effect of the timing belt letting go & killing the top end as oil pressure had been ropey ever since.

Hey ho, touch wood I've had a good few months trouble free (not counting the standard everything-frozen issues & pot hole related flat tyre!) and I really love the car! thumb

I am glad you are enjoying the car now anyway.
I will have to sell the GTV shortly as the other half is pregnant and it isn't very practical for carrying kids and associated gear.

The fun never stops... need a new final drive seal for gearbox & will get a new viscodrive o-ring fitted at the same time. Will get these bits done when I get the David_L water hoses fitted...
