Hi! I'm buying the six-paddle Valeo clutch from CG Motorsports, will it last for ca 340bhp/400Nm? My GTA clutch did not. (thanks, this forum.. ) Well my CG Clutch isn't standing up to 270-295 lb/ft very well. I'd have gone for a Helix organic in hindsight.
F****** b****** thing...

If I ever upgrade my engine performance (currently 358 hp/486 Nm) then I will buy the Helix organic. Jari tested it and it could hold very high Nm. The Alfa 156 GTA's V6 produces 300 Nm and Fiat Coupe 20vt produces 310 Nm so no big difference between those two engines. I use the GTA clutch and have no problems with it.

Al; thanks! Helix is clearly the one to go for yes. Freddan, yes I probably sometimes get more torque because it does slip. Probably because I use the ECU boostcontrol instead and it's not constant (like I told you last time). I don't know how much torque I have exactly, since I haven't done the final RR with correct readings yet. The facts are very clear; my std Fiat clutch did not slip even though it was 195000km's old. The GTA clutch started to slip after 1year/10000km's. And I'm not the only one with this experience. Don't feel guilty for giving me the GTA-tip, I would probably have done the same in your situation.

i am suprised the cg didn't stand up well i bought the jbt 6 paddle and had 358 bhp 316 ftlbs and its still going strong though its only 1 year or so of driving..is it the same clutch jbt was selling?
the helix organic is better i would say anyway but for the money its a good one (the jbt)
i happen to have a helix paddle for sale with very few miles on a thousand maybe certainly no more than two..i have the reciept and milage on the car to check should you be interested

thanks, it might be interesting. Why did you change it? This is the 6paddle Valeo clutch CG Motorsport is selling so they're maybe not the same?

i sold the car with it in and its still being used daily as well as taken to 1/4 miles etc with the new owner
the car i own now had a helix paddle from the last group buy or possibly the one before last but i have owned it for 6 months and its been sat on the drive waiting for the 2.5 to be built and fitted..i was going to use the clutch but it would become the limiting factor when mapping the car so i am contemplating selling it and buying a twin plate now ..i had planned to buy the twin plate when i had financially recovered from this project then have it mapped again though it doesn't make financial sense it would spread the cost..anyway if i get a good enough offer i will sell it....

It slips! I know what that is. I don't know now but we had similar speed at the Mantorp straight, and with a torque peak after a reset it doesn´t surprise. Freddan, I just bought a good (I hope) six-speed box for 4500kr.. (along with the clutch change)

Took some advice on this when replacing my clutch a few months back. The choice for me was either Helix organic or a new Valeo. My Scottie is 270bhp / 275lb/ft... if I was planning to take the next tuning step I would definitely have gone for the Helix, but as she is quite fast enough for me I chose the OE route, which will hold at least 300lb/ft torque. No problems at all with this (yet )! A paddle is a different driving experience, and only really needed if you have a real beast , 380lb/ft + !

...the OE [clutch] will hold at least 300lb/ft torque. No problems at all with this (yet )! I recently called up Valeo to ask about the torque rating of the oe clutch and posted up the answer on the forum. The oe clutch is rated at 370 Newton metres (273 lbs ft). Not 300 lbs ft.

Do you know the torque rating for the GTA clutch (part No: 0071739521)?

Oh dear... ! Hopefully mine will last a little longer with 275lb/ft. The manufacturer's ratings are always conservative for CYA purposes, so I'm happy for the time being until my turbo packs up and I get tempted by an uprated replacement....

I just had a look a the latest RR sheet and it's 320lbs/ft @ flywheel. After a ECU reset it's briefly much more (over 450Nm) so maybe that's why the GTA slips then.
