I believe on the old forum there was a post about cruise controls. Has anybody got one fitted which make & what is your experience with it? I fancy putting one on to eek out that few extra mpg on long runs.

Here is one. Between 3-5 hundred seems to be the mark.

i fitted one, its made by waeco. www.waeco.com it cost me £97 brand new on ebay from autexworld int. trading.
a german company their email is service@carhifiversand.com.
i went for the basic model ms-50.
it works a treat keeps the car bang on the speed i set it at.
i did say on the old forum that when i find some time i will do a how to with pics etc, just haven't had time yet. if any of you get one before i do the how to then i would be happy to advise on where to fit the sensors, throtle cable, switches and vacume pipe etc

That's exactly the one I was looking at but seemed a bit cheap. ebay advert

Was it easy to fit? where have you mounted the control unit?

it may seem cheap but it's not, it's an excellent bit of kit very good quality with eveything included, nuts, bolts brackets etc everything you need to make it fit almost any car.
the instructions are good and clear as well, so fitting is fairly simple. main problem was finding a permanent 12volts and a switched 12 volts but i can help out on this if anyone has problems.
as i said i went for the entry level kit, you can pay a lot more for the remote version.
i have incuded a few photos

I dont think that vacum servo one will work with the turbo as the turbo wont create a vacum all the time, specially on boost but would work for long motorway miles... goood for me every now and again

Have sent a question to the seller asking specifically about a Coupe Turbo, will have to see if/when he replies. If it will only work on motorways then that would probably be fine for me as that is where I intended to use it mainly anyway.

The electronic higher model one will be fine but if it needs vacum all the time then i dont know where you get it from as with teh boost guages it often goes positive

Is there not vacum provided to the brake servo that you could use?

bockers is correct the brake servo is fed with a constant vacum but is almost impossible to get to the feed pipe.
the best place to tap into the vacum line is the pressure regulator at the end of the fuel supply injector manifold. this is on top of the engine on the right near the throttle assembly and easy to get to. i have checked in the manual and the injector manifold and pressure regulator is the same in both the na and turbo

Yes but with the turbo that is subject to boost pressure to provide the correct fuelling, thus wont be good for anything needing constant vacum to actuate anything

so how does the brake servo work then as this requires a constant vacum and the line i am talking about is part of the brake servo vacum feed.
and on the turbo version this is taken from the air intake before the turbo so the turbo will have no effect on the vacum.
anyway take it or leave it i'm only trying to help you turbo guys,

On an NA you will always get vacum.

But while accelerating try pushing the brakes... not working very well and going stiff with noassistance after a few press's is what will happen and more quickly if your on boost

I didnt realise there was a take off before the turbo will have a nosey sometime but the fuel reg and such like areas are certainly Post Turbo..
